I read this - if true, then it's good news, I guess...

 

The club's board has until the first Saturday in May to inform Robbie Keane whether or not he has a future at White Hart Lane, writes Andrew Sleight.

 

Keane, 25, is scheduled to be out of contact at the end of June, but the club has a two-year option that can be activated in order to prolong the charismatic Dubliner's stay at the club until 2008.

It wasn't really meaningless as the winners finished top of the group which could affect their World Cup seeding.

Well, it should mean we don't have two other decent teams in our group. In 2002 we had a pretty tough group and you wouldn't have expected the Argies to go out at that stage.

I hear what you're saying, but it never works out like that. I doubt very much we'll be seeded anyway.

 

But if you look back over former World Cups, there are always dead easy groups, and Groups of Death, as they're called.

 

We could be seeded and end up in a group with Spain or Holland.

 

Or we could not be seeded and still up in a relatively easy group with Sweden (as seeds), Bahrain and Ivory Coast.

 

No way of telling.

 

Champions League is the same - means bugger all being seeded.

If we're going to win the thing, as so many people seem to be under the illusion that we are, it doesn't matter who's in our group, as we'll probably have to beat three of Brazil, Argies, France, Italy and Germany along the way anyway!!
