Claire's Chitchat

For God's sake! I haven't made this stuff up, I am only writing what was said, and if you have a problem, don't blame me! I am doing this as a favour to the website, and to give you a report of what the managers want you to know, and how they feel about the games.

I am only going to write what they say, and I am not going to mis-quote anything they say, and I can't control what they say.

If anyone should have a problem with this, then I suggest that you speak to me in private, or speak to either Gary Roberts or Steve Cook if you don't like their answers.

Just do me a favour - don't mock me on the internet.

Hi Clare.

Don't listen to them Clare. I think that it's great that you give up your time in order to, as you put it "..give [us] a report of what the managers want [us] to know...".

A couple of points, Superscoop:

a). Are you getting more than the £1500 per match that Webbo pays those match reporters?

B). Would you ask Cookie "How many pages in a Pre-Contract Agreement"?

c). Practice saying "Do you really mean that?" before your next interview. Then when one of The Duo say "The performance doesn't matter", you say "Do you really mean that?".

Keep up the good work, Clare. [And the post match interviews!]

After a long absence from posting (the board used to be so different - how far the club has come since the dark days of earlier this year), I have returned.

AFF / MAD/ C Hart - I can answer (B) above, being qualified to do so, in spite of the rhetorical nature of the query. I would advise you not to pose the question to the Cookie half of the dynamic duo as any response you receive is highly likely to be misleading. The answer is 12 pages (presuming only limited warranty protection is to be sought).

Welcome back, O Wise One. You have been sorely missed.

The nature of a Pre Contract Agreement is an issue with which I have mentally wrestled for many months. You see, a number of players have "committed their future to the Saints" by signing a 'Pre Contract Agreement', according to the local rags.

12 pages, eh? With limited warranty protection? Right-oh. That's cleared that up. Thanks.

Just one more small thing on this subject. Where is Richard Goddard, then? [And don't say Harrow Borough F.C.]

While we have you, so to speak, there is another matter upon which your guidance may be required. Have you any knowledge of the Law of Misrepresentation? [is it a tort, by the way?] A certain Ryman League, Premier Division club who should remain nameless have a banner on the front of their matchday programme indicating "Ryman League Programme of the Season 01/02" or some such. This will astound you. It's a totally false claim! It's a jolly good programme, mind you, but that honour belongs to us. And now it's on our programme, too!

Now. No financial loss has been suffered, nor, I suspect, have we suffered any real damage to our reputation by this outrageous and unfounded claim. However, I feel that there ought to be a right of redress available to us. Litigation is the last resort, of course, but we should be able to do something, surely?

Hmmn.

A page in the programme where we get 'a report of what the Managers want us to know' and 'how they feel about games'.

That is a novel idea.

Hi Clare

Now that the Pre Contract Agreement issue has been resolved, would you pose the following question in your next interview with The Duo:

As things stand towards the end of October we are top of the League and 90 minutes away from banking £37500 and a place in the money-spinning first round proper of the F.A.Cup. In your managerial careers in the future, you may never be closer to managing a side that can win promotion into the Conference. How do you cope with the pressure that brings?
