I've got an idea.

 

Why don't I work really hard at school, university, then complete a professional qualification. Then work hard and perform well in a decent job, so I can earn a decent wage.

 

Then, I'll give most of it away through tax deductions to help fund the lifestyles of all those poor people who can't be bothered to work and just want to sit at home in front of the TV breeding more worthless scum, that add no value to society.

 

What a great place to live that would be. I'm coming round to your way of thinking.

At the moment you pay 1 fee for your house, you'd end up paying 2, one for you and one for Emma. Don't ask me how much it'll be but it's very unlikely it'll work out less in total

You mean I worked hard at school and college and pay all these taxes just so she can sit at home all day not paying poll tax.

If the household income was sufficient the full poll tax was charged whether you were working or not.
