This is so English of us and is the reason why our national football is in such a Sh!te state. How can anyone argue against the credentials of Sir Alf.

I remember an interview with Kevin Keegan once, when he said. " That if Alf Ramsey was Italian he would of been treated like a god for the rest of his days. To think he was allowed to dissapear from football with out a trace is criminal."

thank you!!!

so nice to see an englishmen talk sense, the whole reason i really don't care for the english team too much is there are too many england fans who know feck all

the problem is all the football fans in this country follow their teams week in week out and understand the game, when england play it is full of idiots down the pub who haven't got a clue and just support england because they followthe flag, what a load of b*llocks

Why are you so surprised at this? That's the whole point of it! The togetherness.
Unless maybe I got it wrong?
It's England, like it or lump it mate, it'll never change.
Even if (ha ha) we won the world cup next year, the masterminds down the pub will still say they could have done it better, but as you are always saying, football is a game of many opinions, but I for one don't believe you need to pay for a ticket to have one.

He most probably was but seeing as that was a tad before my time, I can't say he was the greatest England manager! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

When Alf took over from Walter in 63 he changed the system, previously a committee selected the team and the Manager coached them, Sir Alf said he was in charge and that we would win the World Cup, he was true to his word.

What beat him in 73 was bowing to the press and playing Norman against Poland cos he thought Mooro was past it and had made a bad mistake in the first game in Katowice.

But then everything has to change eventually.

Very good points ESU you have my support.

I thought GH was gonna be a good International Manager but he let good ol' Eileen dominate and of course has now had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus.

As I said before Curbs is my man, but only my opinion of course.
