Margate FC - stadium regulations announcement

Wellsie

Recommended Posts

Today’s announcement on changes to stadium regulations is just the first of what will hopefully be a series of measures to guard against a deterioration of behaviour by a small number of fans. Other measures are being investigated and will be implemented if appropriate. The announcement did have two elements to it, and it was not just about “under 11’s”.

The announcement will be going onto the official web site and will be posted at the turnstiles. But I did promise to post it here for information as well.

“From the home game on Saturday 22nd October, all under 11’s will be refused entry to Hartsdown Park (stadium) unless accompanied by an adult, who will be held responsible for the child for the duration of their visit to the ground.

“Anyone caught defacing or vandalising Margate Football Club property, spitting, using foul or abusive language will be ejected from the ground and may face prosecution by the club.

“This announcement has been sanctioned by the directors of the club and has the support of the management of Margate Football Club’s Youth Section.”

Sounds to me like a certain the manager of the under 11s has put his oar in here. Trying to protect these kids maybe. But protect them from what? If restrictions are to be enforced then it surely has to be across the board and not just one section of youths that are to be penalised.
You should tackle the problem not what the problem could result in surely.
O.K. so its only £1 a head we are losing but this club, with its youth policy will be shown to favour one set of youths to that of others. It was only 15 youths causing the problem, all in the 14-15yr old bracket and as they werent at the game today I think it can be read that those 15 kids will not be coming back just yet. They are recognisable and any future visit by them will be noticed without a doubt. So all in all restrictions of any kind are not going to be advantageous to anyone.
If any age group should be cut back on then it should be the 14-15yr old group but again it is supposed to be a club supporting youth so we really should leave things as they are.
It seems the club, with the intervention of a youth manager, are going about this the wrong way and will only worsen the effect it has on the community. Please MFC either explain WHY you have done as you have done(though confirmation will do that my thoughts are correct) or go away and re-think before you come to regret your actions.
AS for the other parts of the statement, I agree fully that they should be implimented. Those first parts in any case should have covered it all without the need for the latter part to be enforced.
You are turning a "hiccup" into full blown cancer and we all know that is not the case.

Probably. It all goes back to the game against Notts County. I believe the comment to Monty Curwen or another at Hartsdown on that day in 1961 went something like this "Isn't it bloody marvellous, they will mess around with it at the back" (a defensive lapse allowed Notts County to score in the last few minutes). Fulham's second goal was the same - and Heaven only knows how many others in the last several decades. (Leon's clearance from defence against Doncaster Rovers was another).............

will the managers and representatives of the clubs playing also be thrown out for bad language because to my ears they have been the worst culprits this season.next time i hear it i will complain to the stewards and will then be very interested to see what happens.one rule for all will apply i hope

Thrown out for swearing? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Hopefully this is excessive swearing (by the under 16s in particular).

if that rule is applyd it has counts for players also, if not it will be counted as discrimination.

would be funny to see 6 players removed from the ground, imagine.
(margates game was called off after stewards removed 6 afc wimbledon players from the pitch in front of 2000 eager fans......)

You obviously had a say in it though as you have just admitted, regardless of whether they listened to you or not.In a previous post you mentioned safety for your kids and you should know too well that there is no problem with safety at our ground whatsoever. This is a decision designed to protect the very age group you are in charge of.Its completely unecessary. You were scaremongering and the club have taken what you said on board and now they have come to a wrong & unfair decision.I sincerely hope they see sense and reverse their decison.

I was asked to attend the meeting at the last minute by our chairman. I was not even aware of this website and I was shown hard copies entitled Margate Youth Scum by your Head Steward. I was shocked at what I read but the decision had already been made before I even attended the meeting! Why are you blaming me for a decision the club had already made before I attended. Perhaps you should get your facts right before accusing me!! You can confirm any of this with the Head Steward or even Mr Piper himself who chaired the meeting. I will be at the next home game with six of my lads who are going to be ball boys, so perhaps we can talk then if you wish rather than on the website, regards Slightly

I will with pleasure look you up but I am referring to a post of yours where it stated that you asked parents NOT to attend the next home match or have their kids attend because of fear for their safety. Unwarranted in my mind.Just seems very co-incidental that it is to be the under 11s that are supposedly being protected here(from what?),and not other age groups.Surely you see my point. You surely, therefore must understand my thinking that a link somewhere along the line has been made.If indeed that hasnt been the case then I apologise here and now but as you can see I have good grounds for thinking that.

I see your point cookie and understand your thinking but it wasn't the case as stated. I do accept your apology and look forward to meeting you at the next game. My team will be attending future games, but I just wanted things to calm down and advised them not to attend the last game. I am sure they will attend in the future with their parents! Regards Slightly
