CRAY - putting things in perspective

Last season I saw Bath City beat Barnet at Underhill in the 4thQR. At the time they were 2 divisions below Barnet. Now 3. Losing to Cray, who were quite well organised today, was disgraceful but not entirely unexpected. They are just one division below us.

Last November when I saw Barnet, Margate were clueless as to the future. There were no plans to play back at Margate and we were lucky to survive. It's great just to be still around.

We should be grateful that we are playing on a superb pitch back in the town. This season, MFC will do well to finish on the top 10. Let's get behind CK and the team, stop moaning and move on. The plan surely is to get the ground built with the hotel and other facilities and for CK to establish a solid base of squad players so that we can have a settled side. Something that has been impossible so far this season.

Thats bollox JJ. Enough of the "just glad to be back" bit. I'm sorry but that should not wipe away a performance like todays. We have said that for long enough now and its time to move on. Are we going to forever continue to use this after every dire effort.

Trying to Glossover performances like todays with this same excuse and diversion from the facts of both last weeks first half display and todays embarrassment is not on.

Being back home is one thing but performance on the pitch is another thing altogether.

Dont anyone dare tell me I dont back the team or the manager because I like many others continue to come back even after lacklustre performances but even managers can [****!!****] up times and should take responsibility for errors of judgement on certain occasions.

Give up on trying to gain points for being the "nice guy" and for once say what you really feel and be honest.(with respect)

Sorry chaps but cray were CRAP. Yes they were well organised but their back 4 were slow and their keeper must have been 5ft nothing! Im embarrased to wear a Margate shirt after todays performance ( bugger ive still got it on coz im still in margate and havn't been home yet).

Any more performances like that and we can kiss goodbye crowds of 800 plus. They all need a good bollocking after that one! Im bloody discusted!

Cray were organised and wanted the win. They attacked and especially defended in numbers. They were NOT a good side but again again and again and again we make others look better than what they really are. They should have been beatable but today the team lacked total commitment. On the day Cray deserved their victory by a long way, regardless of how good they are or are not.

Quite agree with your perspective JJ. Of course it was not a good performance for all sorts of reasons. I guess as fans we expect it to be "weeks" for a new team to gel, but the reality is nmore like "months".

I would imagine that CK and the players know we were not good today, and that Cray were no more than OK.

Time and support is what the team continue to need.

Of course, it's just annoying to note that 4 years ago today, Akpo Sodje and Gareth Graham scored as we beat Yeovil at Huish Park (see history site) and later we beat Doncaster Rovers, who recently knocked Man City out of the FL Cup. Now we play second fiddle to Ramsgate as far as the FA Cup is concerned.

Not Happy

The good news is that Tuesday's game at Heybridge is off (due to them drawing yesterday). The next league game is not for a fortnight so extra time for those injuries to heal. As regards the Trophy next week, I am not really bothered. That competition has really suffered in recent years with the Conference introducing play-offs and Wembley being closed. Even a good run would not guarantee much revenue.

As above post the F.A TROPHY is far inferior to the F.A CUP JJ in my mind and though I have the day off especially for next week am in two minds about going now but knowing me I proberbly will as we are certain to improve. Can we get any worse? Time will heal and as for looking forward to next Saturday I cant say at this moment that I am. A good result yesterday would surely have had me replying "yes" to your question. Life goes on!
