Margate's record in the Trophy is abysmal. It all started at Thorneycroft (now VTFC) in 1970 and has got steadily worse. This season the Trophy and the Westfield? Ryman League Cup thingy are not important. Getting a settled squad so we can move forawrd next season is the priority.

Does the Trophy matter? Not until the quarter-finals.

I think the Trophy does matter. It is a competition that clubs even at our level now can do well in, even though winning it is probably out of the question. In line with other FA competitions there is money at stake too.

As for the Westview (Rail?) cup, then that's just a traiing exercise .... until the final I suppose. But I guess we didn't think that whne winning the Southern League cup. But at this stage, I think I'd prefer to do well in the Kent Senior Cup rathre then the Ryman League cup.

[color:"blue"]One point that seems to have been missed as far as the Trophy is concerned is that the draw for the next round has already been made and, should we progress past Bashley, we'd face Dover or Dartford at Hartsdown.

Now the possibility of facing Parmenter's mob at home has to be mouthwatering doesn't it ?

Yes as long as we win the game against Bashley and then against Dover.

Bashley wil be no easy game-they are at home and about same place in league as Cray so thats no 'done deal' is it.

Its all a bit sad, but currently i guess we have to accept that lower half of Ryman is our 'station in life'.

I guess we will be without Kola, Smith and possibly Edwards again aswell as our key player-Gradley(not everyones favourite but one of mine and we are a different side entirely with him in the side).

A scraped lucky win would do for me on saturday.

We cant possibly play the same way again.I really think the team will put things right on Saturday.

Watch for a distinct inprovement on our part.I wouldnt like to be in Bashleys shoes this coming Saturday. They will get the backlash from the Cray game.We are going to turn it on on Saturday for sure.£1300 to play for as well.Incidentally did I hear that there is NO coach going on Saturday?

I take it all back! A game against Dover at HARTSDOWN would be nice. Put the demons of '01 to rest.
