Contrary to the scoreline town were very much up and at ilford in this one and it was only the quality of Richard Wray the Ilford Keeper that kept town out. Wray has a 100% no goals conceeded at home record at the Cricklefield.

Town started spritely with an overhead kick to the keeper from Bradley. Johnny Morgan shot wide from a lovely linkup move from Lionel. Ilford did not let town have it all their own way. Town took a corner which Bradley Brotherton headed hard and low but it went just wide. Lee Smith tried a long shot on target. Russell Penn broke down the left well and hit the targetjust on the near post but Wray was there as usual. Town then had a goal mouth scramble in the Ilford goal area. Wray was beaten only for a defender to clear off the line. At the other end Chopper was in action at last making a good save to deny Ilford. Lee Smith was again denied after a goal mouth scramble. Ht all square and discipline out there from both sides starting to slip.

Second half Town came out positively with Paul Campbell heading over. Niall Ritchie floated a ball over forBradley Brothertonto shoot just wide.

Niall Ritchie & Rudi Hall this time linking up well with Lee Smith heading at the keeperNiall ritchie headed over. Suddenly Chopper was in a 1 on 1 and had to be at his best to save. Bradley headed wide again. Russell Penn headed over from Rudi Hall freekick. Good to see Kevin Riley, Simon Miller and Allan Fenn again.

A one sided 0 - 0 for most of the game, although Ilford probably had the best one 2 one and should have scored late on.

We created so many chances in a 15 min spell but could not get past the keeper and Ilford bodies thrown infront of the ball and across their goal. Credit to them for that, but overall what a poor side full of cloggers !

As for Town, we need to vary things around up front. Change the combination now and then.

Other results went our way today...bring on the Wood.

I thought Dean Nyman turned the game in our favour when he came on!!

We miss Dean Green big time, we need a target man, we need some height.

Smudger & Lionel run their socks off today with some nice touches!

.....Good to hear Brad is doing well. I've always said he's a key man to have in midfield.

Could not agree more Invis, however he was at centre back due to Dave Allen's suspension, definatly a quality midfielder though.

Maybe someone was injured or not obeying team instructions.

Seriousy though.Well done to the fans for not getting on Brians back during the game.I think it was a case of the fans respecting Jim wishes.

The sound of Phil D shouting 'well done Brian' every time he lost the ball though, was taking it a bit far.

Brian will be in the starting line up on Tuesday and Saturday and....and.... and.... so on and so on

Uh-oh lookout, I can see another rant on its way via the back page of the local rag!

The ironic cheers that accompanied the 88th minute sub made me chuckle, but I believe that was all in good banter..........

I thought we were impotent again up front. Yes we are doing ok but i personally think we could be doing better. we need more goals from the front line. I just have a horrible feeling that Bryan is goin to become another Stuart Snowden. And no one wants that. Bryan needs to make the team because he is the best we have in that position for what its worth i dont think he is.

This is purely hypothetical and a general observation as I haven't seen a game this season, but often a lack of potency up front is not the striker's fault, but shows a lack of penetration and imagimation in midfield - the strikers get no service, as they say. Conversely of course, on occassions an exceptional striker(s) may still score regularly and conceal in inadequate midfield.

It's a funny old game.

A striker will not be criticised for having a quite game or not getting a chance. They will be criticised for wasting chances,or losing the ball,or not getting in good positions when crosses are coming in...etc.

Morgan will always provide service from wide. Not much is coming from wide right though.Penn is ball winner and it normally rests on Rudi to thread ball through.Something that hasn't been happening as much for him this season, as it did last season.Valandia is the best provider from midfield that we have, but he rarely gets a game.
