A couple of thoughts from Charlton fans on their forum :-

For as long as you have him you have an absolute gem in Onome. He really will make it big so definitely make the most of him. What's promising is, besides his obvious quality, his very unassuming nature. Very mature lad who belies his years both in terms of look and attitude.

Make sure Liam Daish takes good care of him and he could well get you a good 10-15 goals this season. Charlton clearly think he'll make it if we're sending him to a Conference club at such a young age.

Keep us updated on his progress anyway.

like the dogs bollarks. Pacy, good first touch, strong and knows where the onion bag is. I was more impressed with his run off the shoulder of the last defender and fancy footwork to set up a chance for his strike partner - although the goal was well-taken the keeper had a moment and any decent striker should have put it away.

Hopefully he'll be on loan with you lot for a few months and bang a few more in

On a serious note - does anyone else think we have possession(sadly only for the season) of a player who could well be a massive star in the Premiership if Alan Curbishly looks after him.

Frightening pace, massive physique and strength beyond his years, "presence", endurance, confidence and an eye for goal.

I have not seen a better 17 year old on Fleets books in 35 years.

Slow down, Gary! He is only starring at the fifth level of English club football at present - and even that has only comprised two excellent performances (vs. Accy and York), one good one (vs. Scarborough) and one so short as to be impossible to analyze (vs. Halifax).

That said, he is only 17 as you rightly state, and there is clearly potential there.

When Charlton U17's played at Stonebridge road in July Sodje wasn't in the starting eleven, he came on as a sub with about 20 minutes to go. Since then a couple of the U17's have moved up to the reserve team and Sodje has joined us on a work experience scheme for the season. (That is my understanding of course I could be wrong)

If he continues with performances like Saturday's and gets a seasons experience in the Conference and a few goals to his name as well as learning from playing alongside players like Bowry, Jacko, Macca etc... the big test will be when he goes back to Charlton has he got more out of a season in the Conference than he would have from a season in Charlton reserves (if he had made it to the reserve team).

Sodje wasn't the top rated 17 year old at Charlton but if he goes back as the top rated 18 year old I would have thought that there is every chance we will get another youngster on work experience next year.

Fact? Fact that we've only got him for the season? Says who? The work experience (he's not on a season long loan) last's as long as Charlton call him back. Who says it will be at the end of the season?

Exactly only got him for the season? This can be extended or shortened.

So he does go back end of the season lol HJA

I was stating facts. He could go back tommorrow or he could still be playing for us in years time.

Hannah was saying that we definately only had him for the season which is wrong.

To show a good example of this Jamie Guy is on the same deal from Colchester and yesterday went back.
