Jim's had a right go about the supporters on the back page.Apparently he was disgusted with the abuse towards Hammett and himself when he took Nyman off.He said he took Nyman off because he wasn't following team instructions.Jim also, offered a veiled threat of resignation ,if people wern't happy with his discisions.

It was an honest peice by Jim,and he admitted that Hammett was going through a bad patch. The only line that seemed strange, was when he said about Hammett. If he's not performing i will not play him Or something to that effect.

I think its time to draw a line under this debate. Both sides(the supporters and management) have been guilty of mistakes regarding the Hammett situation. But the most important thing is that boths sides are united and totally back each other up.If i believe a mistake had been made ,i will say it.That doesn't mean for one moment that i don't have faith in Jims management ability or would for one moment wan't him to leave. He's a great manager who makes the odd mistake. We are great fans who make the odd mistake. But i wouldn't want to swap Jim and i'm sure he wouldn't want to swap us.

Following on from Lovely Suff, I think we should all count up the number of mistakes 'we think' the referees make during the game and compare the total to the number of mistakes 'we think' individual players make. I am sure that the officials total will be less. Something like this came out of David Ellery's book.

Looks like it's time to reflect on what has been achieved this season so far and look forward to tomorrow and Tuesday, when the top team comes to play. 'Top' meaning that they are top of the league rather than the best. It could be ETFC by 9.45pm on Tuesday evening!

Personally I think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion, regarding the Brian Hammett debate, firstly all I heard was plenty of groans of disbelief when Dean Nyman was substituted, it appeared to the fans that it was Brian who was having a far worse day at the office & how was we to know the real reason for JC's decision at that time, their were a couple of shall we say off the cuff excitable remarks from the odd bod after a half time beer but certainly nothing that would warrant anything as drastic reported in the local paper, and The Town won 2-1 so surely that must prove JC's decision's on the day correct, lets be honest it was not a great performance but so what, we all have off day's.

We are fans, we pay our money & are allowed our opinions, non abusive opinions that is, we all think we are managers but I reckon if you took 10 fans from behind the goal & asked them to name a team for the game against Ilford you would end up with 8 diffrent line ups.

JC & the rest of the bench have only to point a finger at the trophy's won in our short history to put their point across, they dont need half the back page of the local paper to defend themselves.

Here's to a good game today & 3 points.

All those "Supporters" whinging don't mind being 2nd in the League though do they?

No pleasing some people. Jim is "our" Manager and although we may not agree with him all of the time we really should be getting behind him and the boys and not getting on their backs all of the time. Players do go through barren spells and bad patches from time to time, but they usually come good in the end.

Nuff said!!!!

What do you do when a player has a "dip in form" - do you continue to select him, thus fielding a weakened team, and frustrating other players available for selection, in the hope that he will recover his form, or do you select the 11 available players most in form in their position? Clealry it is unwise to drop a normally good player after just one poor performance, but there again the convention is to operate a principle of competition for places.

It is indeed a tricky decision.

Don't see what is tricky..........

We have forwards not scoring often enough, so changes should be made until the right combination is found.

Lee and Brian...did not work at Ilford today.

Brian "appears" to be an automatic choice, ( along with JM ) but has scored 2 in christ knows how many starts.

Variation just may help.

While we are 2nd in the league people will say what is wrong.........maybe they have a point.

It's just that I don't think so

How can you say that Fenny frustrated Town. If we could header straight, or the keeper didn't have a blinder,we could have had a hat-full.

Fennys a top guy and may well be a good manager ,plus his programme notes were spot on. But i was dissapointed with the quality of Ilfords squad.Town didn't play that well at all, but Ilford failed to trouble us.

I thought Fenny managed well today, polite and did the business of frustrating town. A manager to watch for the future.
leyton is most likely to be his next stop.

What we've won in the past won't get us extra points this season though will it (See Alex Ferguson & to a lesser extent Arsene Wenger this season about supporters getting on their backs).

Obviously we are a struggling team being only second in a league that is a step up from what we're used to...
