Guided by God?

Recommended Posts

On my way out to the Ministry of Sound, I caught the last part of the News at 10[.30] last night from which it would seem that Dubbya was guided by God to invade Iraq. The news came from an interview with some Palestinian negotiator who said that, in a private discussion, the President had told him that God had confirmed to him that the U.S. should invade "in order to free Iraq from tyranny".

Hmmnn, I thought, "in order to free Iraq from tyranny" eh?

Without mocking another man's faith, I pictured the exchanges:

GB: "To free Iraq from tyranny, Lord? What about the Weapons of Mass Distraction?"

God: "They're aren't any."

GB: "Iraq's links with International Terrorism?"

God: "It doesn't have any."

GB: "To make the world a safer place?"

God: "It wont."

GB: "It costs $23 a barrel to produce oil in Texas and $1.75 a barrel in Iraq?"

God: "That's not a good reason."

GB: "Our companies will make a fortune from the re-building contracts?"

God: "See the answer to your last question."

GB: "But Lord. I am the President of the most powerful Nation on your Earth and I can't go around interferring with the internal politics of another sovereign state."

God: "Why change the habits of a lifetime?."

GB: "But how can I sell this concept to the American people and yet still retain power for another 4 years?"

God: " I leave the politics to to you, my son."

GB: "How will I enlist the support of any of that lot over the pond to form a 'Coalition of the Just' for such a venture?"

God: "Try that poodle Blair first."

And so it came to pass.

[sigh.]

Amother item caught my eye. Apparently Tone has 'intelligence' that confirms Iran's involvement in the deaths of 8 British soldiers in bomb explosions in Iraq this year. [The deaths of British servicemen are no laughing matter as far as I am concerned, by the way.]

I hope that the intelligence is from a different source from that which told the lunatic that Weapons of Mass Distraction could be launched by Iraq "within 45 minutes", that Saddam had links with International Terrorism, and that Iraq was actively engaged in negotiating to buy the bits to make nuclear weapons. Hopefully, that 1st year student from the University of Hicksville, U.S.A. who published those musings on the internet and unwittingly became the major source of information to British intelligence is no longer 'Our Man in the Middle East".

[sigh.]
