Balls

At HDP when the ball goes out of play at the Hartsdown Road end it is usually retrieved very quickly by the crowd. When the ball goes out at the Coffin End there is a delay in retrieving the ball (and also at the Portakabin side). The referees in order to keep the game flowing request a replacement ball. Then while the game has recommenced the original ball has been retrieved and if not retrieved by an official ball boy, steward or a thinking member of the crowd it can be thrown back onto the field. We all saw the consequence last night which could have costs us two points.

I am sure this problem will be avoided when the ground is fully developed around all of its sides.

In the meantime some thinking is needed in how to avoid a recurrence of last night's problem.

Theres no need for ballboys to be INSIDE the pitch down at that end. They should be given directions as what to do and they should be doing it from BEHIND the fence. O.K, so they wont see the game but with the two something surely can be worked out.Agree with you Zuckov!

There was no need for the kids to be kicking the ball anyway. If the ball comes to you, you shouldnt throw it but you should drop it on the outside grassy area...ie not on the pitch but within the fencing. Help the officials and the players have access to a ball but dont made it trouble.

As for the ballboys...they like to have something to do. I remember standing at Southwood during the first half and the ballboy sitting near us looked bored out of his mind. He wasnt interested.
