Lets put this into perspective

Well, we have not played well for a few games now, but we are still up there with a chance of the league and still in the cup and all Slough fans would have taken this start if you asked them after our 5-0 away defeat to Rugby this season.

The poor spell has co-incided with Daly getting injured, Gilkes getting injured and Metcalfe getting suspended. Those three are probably our key players and when they have been in the side we have done well.

As i've said the squad is not good enough at the moment and looking at the Express today the manager sees that and is trying to do something about it. With the players above missing on Tuesday night apart from Steve Hale and Barras (both 32) the average age of the side was probably about 23 and they all have the ability to become very good players. Yes we were poor but I would rather have a set of youngsters who try and play poorly, get defeated and learn from that defeat rather than a bunch of players who turn up just to get money in their pockets and don't give any effort at all as we have seen in recent seasons with some of our sides.

And here's my have a go at Gary bit; Alvin and Byron Bubb are players with good potential, so what if the manager knows them? Byron has been one of our better players recently (apart from Tuesday where he had a shocker!) and Alvin did not play for QPR and Bristol Rovers for nothing.

I just don't see why the doom and gloom merchants have re-appeared? Two defeats all season. They may have had a case when we went 20 games without winning (league and cup) the season we got relegated from the Premier, but why now to moan at a bunch of talented youngsters that are still learning the game?

OK some of the people's problems may be to do with the lack of things happening with the stadium, or you may have a problem with the manager, but why take it out on the team - a team that does give 100% each game and a team that is trying?

Some people need to step back and look at the bigger picture. Support the side, turn up and Hampton and cheer YOUR team on. I certinally will be.

Come on you Rebels!

Yes the Bubb's are talented, but always one touch too many and as a result, the second covering defender is on them, or the striker has made the run and is consequently offisde.

The bad run of performances has coincided with them joining and it has a lot to do with them being buddies with Ricky Browne, Paul Ellis & Liam Patrick almost guarenteeing them action ahead of others (although at the moment, choices are limited!)

I'm not having a dig at the team though whilst they are on the pitch, nor do I believe the blame lies solely with the Bubb's.

My problems lie almost solely with the manager's man management. He's got little or no idea and with the young squad we do have, he's doing them more harm than good - hence the team huddle after half time at Barking. The young players are being crushed with a barrage of verbal abuse even after good performances and that's hardly encouraging and morale boosting for them is it? Hardly makes them want to try harder?

With the players at the club's disposal we should be topping this league easily, but instead we've had a number of lacklustre performances and have been lucky to get results out of the Totton games, Barton Rovers & Uxbridge where we've played poorly.

As for the team giving 100% each game? Must have missed that one. Maybe at the start of the season, maybe.

I'll encourage and shout at players as much as I like, but how many of them really care about the club rather than their pay packet? Are their performances reflecting that?

I'll be there on Saturday, and every game beyond (reserves, friendlies, training) doing my bits in the club shop, turnstiles, printing programmes and helping out the club.

Of course they are going to make mistakes, they are young and Byron is always encouraged by the management to take players on, so it's not always his fault he takes so many touches.

No the bad run is nothing to do with the Bubb's it's more to do with Daly being out and consequently us being very weak at the back with no natural leader.

Don't see your point on Liam Patrick and Paul Ellis, how many games have they started - between them? One!!!! There is nobody else who could sit on the bench as all the other players are injured.

I'm not having a dig at the team though whilst they are on the pitch, nor do I believe the blame lies solely with the Bubb's.

Sounds like it! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shotgun.gif" alt="" />

Agree! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool_shades.gif" alt="" /> . You've hit the nail on the head they are YOUNG players and the manager should not discourage them by shouting at them as should not the fans.

Yes, but the squad is young and we have injuries. I think your underestimating a few sides in this league. Both Hornchurch and defintely Harlow have a better players than us. We have no right to be top, just because were Slough Town.

As for the team giving 100% each game? Must have missed that one. Maybe at the start of the season, maybe.

I think they have done the majority of the games. Shall we recall the Reading play-off x1 from a few seasons ago then?

I'll encourage and shout at players as much as I like, but how many of them really care about the club rather than their pay packet? Are their performances reflecting that?

It's only been a few games we have been bad. It's not like we have nothing to play for and the season is over. I personally believe they are trying with the exception of the Totton (away) match where all they thought they had to do was turn up.

More of a hinderance than a help IMHO <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> and that makes you better than me does it? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/upyours.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Chris should know not to touch when he goes into certain bars, but it doesn't stop him!

Anyway bigfatrebel, it's all about opinions and points of views. Chris and I differ on a number of things but doesn't mean we don't get on.

Chris always is and always has been very supportive of the club and players on here where I decide to be a touch more critical when maybe I shouldn't, but at the moment, I feel we are playing well below potential.

Going back to some of Chris's points then. Whilst the defence is weaker without Daly, our problems and poor performances have stemmed from a lack of creativity upfront. The final ball is always missing and when Veli goes, I struggle to think who will provide it.

At least we've agreed on the man management!

As for the final comment about me being better than you, well it doesn't take that does it? I'm just naturally better than you <img src="/forums/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm just saying that anyone who can help out through selling raffle tickets, golden goals, helping on the turnstiles etc. is always welcome and always needed.

We've still got a lot to play for this season, so we can do our bit and get behind the team and hope the performances can emulate the good support we've had this season so far.
