Suggestions to raise attendances

Recommended Posts

Yup too higher prices and lack of atmosphere must be the reason for falling attendances.

It can't be the football nor the league position, because both are good.

The food income must be well down too. Although it's actually on a par or better than before, the location of the burger wagon is a complete pain the a**e and most people from the side of the ground most highly populated just can't be bothered to walk over to the van and wait for ages - we just go without.

As for new grounds being a springboard for success - don't be too convinced - look at what league Sittingbourne, Folkestone and Ashford are in now !

The plough end is as good a kop as there is in non league and we can t use it to help the players and attract the crowd.

We want our home end back!!

On that note, i must say after the Accy game in the bar i was talking with 2 friends and Provs, about being full time and training etc and the ground came up along with support, he said how much it means to the players to see so many go away to watch the lads play, he also stated the difference it makes to run down the wing and look up and not see a big crowd in front of you,so it does make a difference to the players as well as us the fans.Lets hope its sorted out soon instead of one poxy step, and a line of fans. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

The argument some have made elsewhere that attendances down 20% , prices up 20% is rubbish.

20% less people = 20% less burgers and beer and programmes etc...........

Its pure and simple. £12 is too much for some. I posted elsewhere that people still perceive this league as "Painters and decorators having a kick about"

The answer is to push the club more via advertising , and maybe sponsoring a local school each week.

Whats the possibilty , off each week , asking one local schools team to play there schools footbal at fleet leisure and give them a load of tickets to the game.

May be a good way for families to see we are trying to get into the community by showing off the facilities at Fleet Leisure and hopefully get a few more supporters through the gate.

How about one of the morning training sessions at a school so kids can watch and uinderstand. Maybe try and get field trips to fleet leisure for the kids to watch and observe.

Can we get intouch with Arriva , and see if they can have a special bus from Gravesend Town centre leaving at 2:20 to the club and a bus back at 4:55. Charge £2 for the return bus and get money off at the gate.

Advertise said bus, and you may pick up a few casual supporters who could turn into regulars.

Its all about increasing numbers now. The right game with the right incentive will help.

Genius idea, why has nobody thought about this before?

Why would they pay £2 on the bus when they can normally bunk the train between Gravesend & Northfleet for free?

Well that's what all the inhabitants of Northfleet seem to do!

It's certainly an idea, but for those living on the 480/490 route, it wouldn't be cost-effective to get off one bus and onto another.

Loyalty Scheme: this would only work if we actually issued tickets on matchdays like a lot of other clubs do.

£12 for your first visit - if you return for the very next match, the price reduces to £10 & remains at that price for every consecutive visit, by simply handing over your previous match ticket.

Away end - refurbish it & charge away supporters £17.

Seems to work for Stevenage (amongst others).

You also need to make the people want to come, by whatever means.

Even if this means attracting what some would call 'less desirable' elements of society.

Tap into the immigration population.

They're obviously here to stay, make them 'Fleet fans!

Push the idea of 'Liam's Red & White Army' as some sort of brand.

Hmmmm.....maybe we could get some flags with it on for away games?

FA Cup game(s) will soon be with us.

Like most of us, Darren, once we went to a couple of a games and got "hooked" on the Fleet, I would imagine the same would apply to most newbies, 'less desirable' or otherwise.

One point is that the 'less desirables' are very much desired through the turnstiles, and so long as they are ardent Fleet fans, will almost certainly cause little or no trouble because of our enthusiastic stewarding.

If the kids of today bleat they have nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon other than hang around at Bluewater or Gravesend town centre, what better way is there than wearing your colours, letting off steam and following your local team.
