at least there is a connection GNFC so y not joining forces

You might be on to something there, if we changed our name to Guru Nanak Football Club I can immediately see five quick wins:
1) We get shedloads of new fans from the local Asian comunity.
2) We get even more shedloads of new fans from White Van Nistelroys mates who don't want to support the Fleet but would support the same team under a different name.
3) We get a new name without having to sell our best players to fund the rebranding, We would still be GNFC so We could use the same website, headed paper etc.
4) The food served at Stonebridge road would be edible.
5) Fleet Loyal/Longshanks would be sooooooo happy.

Has anybody actually spoken to any of the Guru’s about this? Not an official approach about joint partners or anything likes that, but surely someone must work with an Asian lad or live near one. Next time you’re chatting about football then just give the Fleet a mention, comment on how we are doing, our last result or next match or whatever and see what they say. They may be interested they may not surely it’s the best way to get an idea about this – it can’t hurt can it.

At risk of being called racist,( yet again,by those who just like to stir things up)are Guru Nanak interested in any football other than their own?

If they haven't found there way down to Stonebridge road after 40 years, it makes me wonder.

I played against them when they were struggling to get a foothold over 40 years ago, and their football has been like their communities, very insular!

I was at a Hants FA meeting last week where an FA Officer,Bob Purkiss, talked about racism and inclusivity in football.

The subsequent discussion revolved around the priorities of Asians and their commitment to family and church over their football club.

The Yorkshire FA recently were fined for not rearranging a cup semi final to be played on a religious festival.

Perhaps it is something the club could address next season, by inviting Guru Nanak to a pre-season freindly.

It would certainly be of more local interest than some of the meaningless games we had.

OK, it will be Saturday and Sunday amateurs against a full time time, but in the interest of the bigger picture it would raise an awareness amonst the Asian Community that Fleet are taking 'football in the community' seriously , and it may encourage a new rapport between the teams with the benfit of increased attendances.

With Brian Sangha now a Kent FA councillor , I presume that the answer is yes, the Gurus are interested in other football.

Up the Fleet -

Brian is the exception.........One out of how many thousand?
