What a great day out for our little pub team! Both teams had plenty of chances and either could have nicked it. But once again the Mighty Yellows pinch a point from a team much higher rated than ourselves.

They had two types of supporters at the game today. The first were a load of diluded idiots who think they are still a league club and are far too big to be playing the likes of Canvey Island.

The other half were fantastic Non-League fans who appreciate a battling performance from our comparitively small club. They were a pleasure to speak to and are what this league is all about.

As for the game, we played very well and looked dangerous on the counter attack. The referee was very inept which was disappointing to see as that particular ref seems to get a bad report from fans each week. Minton's first yellow was a joke, but the second was fair enough.

The lads did brilliantly to survive with 10 men, but when they hit the bar in stoppage time I swear I was clinically dead for a few seconds they way my heart went!

As for the Yellow Army, nearly everyone who made the trip made themselves heard and even though we only took 52 compared to their 2,448, we completely outsung them as admitted by them on their messageboard. The players and management came over to applaud us afterwards as this was a united effort by the players and supporters to grind out this result, the spirit at the club at the moment reflects this.

Well done to everyone who went, nothing but a credit to the club!

Agree with that. Spoke to some blokes in the pub and in the clubhouse before the game and they were a great bunch. Those who did cause trouble were kids who should know better.

Thought we showed some tremendous spirit to get the point. Dom was outstanding at the back. Won every tackle and header and just gets better and better. Goal we conceded was a bit sloppy with Macca allowing the ball to bounce giving their striker a chance to lob Richard. The goal they conceded wasn't much better. A bizarre own goal!!

Kezie once again held the ball up manfully and I thought Jason did well up front. Was unlucky with that header and should have done better after latching on to a great knock down by Ibe but shot weakly at the keeper.

Hereford created very little to be honest. It was hearts in mouths time when they hit the bar in the dying seconds. Not sure how it stayed out but last season that would have gone in!!!

Support was amazing especially after Mints' sending off. Last 20 minutes was backs to the wall time but the spirit was tremendous and the players deserve a lot of credit for getting a result against a very good side.

More praise for the "Yellow Army" this time from Jeff in tonights Echo

He said "They`re mainly youngsters and the noise they made supporting us was tremendous.

It gives the players a huge boost, particularly at away games, and i`d love to see more and more join them. They were magnificent and played a full part in us getting a point today."

Good work lads & lasses <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />
