Shortage of defenders

Now that Mark Green has left (a bit of a blow to Kinnear as he was acting captain) we are very short of defenders. I can't see Gravesend letting Smith play next weekend (if they do they acknowledge he is well down their pecking order).

 

Kola is a little way from being fit I guess.

 

Keister - who knows how long his personal problem will last.

 

Has anyone any thoughts?

I was forgetting Annon. But news of him has ben non-existent and I don't think he is on the squad list on the Official site.

I'm pretty sure that Darren Annon has not signed (yet?).

 

Agree re:Smith-and how long is his loan for; so yes we still need those tall defenders and possibly a full back now.

 

imo Hasim Deen is most effective in defensive midfield and not defence.

 

Build from the back, don't concede the nil and the goals will come.

We have been short at the back for a number of years now, i rember towards the end of our last conf season Lebral was playing at center back again and last season we were playing three midfeiders in our defence.

 

Decent defenders are hard to come by thats for sure and i have seen very few in this league that stand out so far and tbh in the conf south few stood out.

 

I guess we have to hope that with the ever increasing numbers of league players droping to non league CK can sign some talent pushed out of the conf sides,

or hope for some young defenders to start comeing through the youth system but that will take time and has no guarantee.
