Sorry Chris CR, I was responding to the anonymous post further up the page about Mark not being under contract with that comment. Should have used a full stop after "was at Ashford" I know! My bad english im afraid! Plus I do agree, it was good of Green to come to games even while injured.

Mark is a very nice young man, talented footballer and great with the fans. I wish him all the very best for his future career. It is such a shame that his year with us was marred by such a nasty injury, and if he wants to pursue a career in other directions it is his perogative - let's face it, if he wanted to go, and we did not want him to, timing was never going to please everyone.

I will also miss his mum, amd grandparents. Always had a friendly word for everyone.

while i agree with your words June, i think after such a horrific injury a season in a league like ours and a team like ours would have made him a better player and then could maybe left at the end of the season to even better pastures i dont think he is fully ready for a higher league yet after the broken leg!

I LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE, THAT ROCKS!!!

Yes we can .He dropped us in it last sat and also this sat with the F A cup .

Agreed Dave. Oh what a lovely bloke he even turned up to games when he didnt need to run about for his £200! What a hardship.

Average Ryman League player at best. Will enjoy passing him on the way up.

On BBC website, think it says it all what he thought about us fans!

Former Margate captain Mark Green has paid tribute to the fans at Hartsdown Park after leaving to try and find a club higher up the non-league pyramid.

Green told BBC Radio Kent: "The supporters were great to me.

"When I broke my leg the fans really looked after me, wished me well and all the best in the world.

"When came back from the injury they really backed me and cheered me on even when I wasn't performing as well as I could - I'm going to miss them a lot."

Are you all stupid? Mark Green only played a handful of games for us He must have been paid and when it suits him he walks away.Hanford and Pinnock at Welling have been tapping him up since the summer and made him unsettled . He will end up there. They only sign Gravesend and Margate players.
