The Libertines is definitely overated. Not sure about some of the others though.

Smiths - Queen Is Dead.

Overrated?: Yes. Beacuse it's the weakest of their four studio albums, yet everyone cites it as their best.

 

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The [****!!****]

Overrared?: Completely. It's crap.

 

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

Overrated?: I've always said this, yes. Only about two good songs on it.

 

Beatles - Sgt Pepper

Overrated?: Hardly. But there are three Beatles albums better than it.

 

Radiohead - OK Computer

Overrated?: Well, I always used to think so, but actually it's not. It's a bloody excellent album.

 

U2 - The Joshua Tree

Overrated?: Probably. I've never listened to it, but the three singles on it all sound the same, and U2 are totally overrated anyway.

 

Oasis - Definitely Maybe

Overrated?: Not really, though Morning Glory is actually better. But unlike the other albums on this list, I was old enough to witness the impact this album had, and it was huge.

 

Libertines - The Libertines

Overrated?: Totally. Honestly, the Libertines are the most overrated band to emerge for about 20 years. Northern Uproar's album was better.

 

Coldplay - X Y & Zee

Overrated?: Only listened to it once, but I'd very much imagine so.

 

Nirvana - Nevermind

Overrated?: I do like the album but yeah, totally overrated. In Utero was better, for a start. Way too over-produced. Still - the kids liked it.

Would say X & Y is overated. Good album but nothing earthshattering. Would say the same about the U2 and Nirvana albums.

Yeah, the Rubettes had the one great single, 'Under One Roof' (banned unfortunately due to gay references); but I wouldn't suggest either of their albums that I own are that worthy.

I guess the same could be said for people around when "Never mind the [****!!****]" was released.

Disagree about The Libertines, the first album is fantastic but the second (as in the one in this poll) is crap, I guess they are a aquired taste and Zeal isn't really into punk rock anyway. Babyshambles are a bit rubbish though and Yeti, which is Gary Libertines new band are totally crap although it was worth seeing them to see all the pretty young Libertines fans wandering about. It's like an expolosion in a eyeliner factory
Glad I got to see The Libertines before they self destructed.
I never liked Nirvana anyway!

Then again, if I only "quite like" it, then it probably is overrated if it gets named in these Top 20 of all time polls.
