Well the first half was relatively even. Town won a free-kick early on which Rudi Hall took and a defender in the wall headed over his own bar leaving Town fans to wonder if Towns top goal scorer O.G was going to put in an appearance. David Allen tracked back beautifully to do a clean last man tackle. Dean Green was in superb form running down the wing beating two men and then doing it again to just make a point. Johnny Morgan would have been proud. Rudi Hall did a sublime little one two on the other wing to tantalise the defence. Chopper left in a one on one situation saves well. Adam Gant was tackling back well. Wow super-chops. Louis Green at the other end was enjoying chatting with the regular fans that have great respect for him and his coiffeur. Russell Penn has shots on target saved by Louis Green. Bradley Brotherton headed just over from free kick. Brian Hammatt shot wide. Dean Green shot on ground just against the post. The best chance of the first half fell to Chatham who only had to chip Chopper to score and yet Chopper jumped and caught it. Chatham had another great header saved. At half time 0 – 0 seemed a good result.

Second half town came out and were pants. Jim took Dean Green off and brought on Lee Smith. Dean Nyman came off and was replaced by Niall Ritchie. On 61 minutes town were caught napping by Chatham who did not look wonderful scored 0 – 1 through a Brendan Cass goal. Immediately Lee Smith started to work away and pressure. Eventually on the 74th minute Lee Smith pressure forced a member of the Chatham temporary defence to handle the ball Penalty. Rudi Hall stepped up and scored. 1- 1.Town fans stood in disbelief how did we get out of that. One point instead of none - Can we hold on for a point? Matty Negus off injured replaced by Kojo Ofori. Both Enfield Town and Chatham Town looked content with the draw but someone forgot to tell Paul Campbell, who made a sublime solo run and beat Louis Green in the Chatham goal 2 – 1. 86 minutes and town had got out of Jail free. Town fans could not believe what they had just witnessed. We didn’t look or feel like we could win one point and we had won all three. Awesome – made up for the cruel defeat to Dartford.

Awful would sum up the game, line up & formation(s).

But hey 3 points so what can we moan about? Just hope JC's luck lasts all season.

Good to see Safehands again, had a good game & got a hand to Rudi's pen, good luck for the rest of the season Louis.

The main topic of conversation today amounst the fans, was the continued selection of Bryan Hammett up front, after numurous ineffective performances and his seeming immunity to being substituted. The situation is not creating a postitive atmosphere around the club.

Well put LS, perhaps someone could also enlighten us as to the continued Dean Greene = 60 mins senario, he cant still not be match fit after his pre-season injury, not seen him have a bad game yet so....What's all that about?
Oh yeah & lets spare a thought for Steve Baldwin, left back on Tuesday night due to Woody's absence doesn't put a foot wrong, so along comes Saturday Woody still missing & Balders doesn't even get on the pitch.

Here's another topic of conversation amongst the fans - the readiness of a few to shout abuse at an Enfield Town player during a game. Is abusing a player going to make him play better? Think not. Would you like it if I came to your place of work and slagged off everything you did? And would you be a better worker for it? Doubt it.

This is a separate issue from whether players should be selected in the side. Whatever our opinions are on which players Jim should be selecting, audible abuse (which is all it is) does no favours to anyone.

LS, the only people "not creating a positive atmosphere around the club" (and what a horrible New Labour expression that is!) are some of the idiots behind the goal. Please engage brains - if you have any.

I do not stand behind the goal, so i can't comment on the atmoshere or abuse that is shouted in that area. From my vantage point,i havn't heard 'abuse' shouted at Bryan (thats who we're talikng about, isn't it?).

I have heard groans of disaproval and cries of advice. Bloody jump/Get in front of him..etc .And maybe the odd shout of For f*cks sake get Smithy on..etc, when a shot has been blazed over. And shouts of disgust when players having good games are taken off.BUT i han't heard (and nor would i condone) any personal abuse or disrespect to a player representing ETFC.It is not Bryan's fault that he isn't producing. It certainly not down to lack of effort.Bryan does not decide whether he in picked in the starting line-up or if he is taken off during a game. That is down to the managemnet.

Look, lets be clear.vertally all the fans are right behind Jim, and consider him a top manager. He gets things right 9 times out of ten.If the fans think he had got something wrong,we have every right to express that opinion. At the end of the day,the fans and management both want the same thing. To play well and to win games. If a selection or formation is (in the eyes of the paying public) hindering that objective, then is is the duty of the fans to express that view.

PS..Town should either get Smith and Nyman fit and playing regulary [QUICKLY], or look to sign a new forward, because with injuries and lack of form, we are looking a bit thin up top at present.

We are all stressing over this issue and yet we are 4th in the league. If we win our game on Tuesday we might be be even higher. If we could retain this position this is currently a potential play off place at the end of the first season in the Southern which is more than I had dared to hope. Most town fans I know were expecting this league to be tougher and for us to finish mid table and that was OK. Now we've seen a few games expectations increase.

This feels like a storm in a tea-cup so let's not turn it into a Rita or Katrina or form like today will desert us completely.

Rudi was every inch a Captain today digging out these points from nowhere. 1 - 2 with Paul Campbell for second goal too. Thank Rudi and Paul.

LS, I basically agree with you. Trouble is, behind the goal it's a bit more than yells of frustration and exasperation. For example, when Brian mishit a return pass to Lee Smith late yesterday, a bellow of "get off Hammatt, you're useless!" flew over my head loud enough to be heard by Chopper, never mind Brian.

Yes we do have a right to express opinions if we are concerned about team selection, formation or tactics (and I freely admit to having reservations about all three at the moment). I would, however, argue that the middle of a tight game when the team desperately needs a lift is the wrong time to express these views!

Not sure why you brought up the subject of Phil here. Firstly, I am not Phil's keeper, and he is big and ugly enough to fight his own battles. Secondly, I know that Phil is as disgusted as I am about the levels of abuse being thrown at Brian Hammatt at the moment.

Softie..I certainly did not concider mid-table to be OK.Top half would have been OK.A play-off place was a reasonable expectation, and it will have been a good season if we can achieve that.Winning the league seemed unlikely before the start of the season, but that now must be our aim.

Well those I spoke to didn't dare to hope too much in case we didn't do too well. Since Boreham Wood have started to lose points I think there is nothing that says we can't win this league BUT we need to be much more united on the pitch and terraces if that is to become a possibility.

The singers will sing and get behind the team but only if their hearts are in it. Saturday they were strangely subdued and most were trying hard not to speak or shout out of line. Some halos slipped.
