A Question of value?

Last night I went, with my spouse, to see "The Producers" at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

The costumes were excellent with, probably, around 10 changes of costume for the chorus and 3-5 for the main characters. There were around 7-8 scene changes. (I wasn't counting). Numerous clever props with ensemble demonstrating a troop of nazis by the clever use of manikins. There were 28 mmembers of cast of which 6 could be called starring roles. Around another 30 are listed in the programme who were responsible for the production and this does not include the theatre management.

All in all I had seats 9 rows back in the stalls and, admittedly under special offer, we paid £48 for the two tickets. The show started at 7:30 and we left at just after 10:30.

The point I am making is that if my wife and I had gone to St Albans on Tuesday it would have cost us £18, there would have been a cast of 25 none of which could be classed in any sense of the word as stars. There would have been no changes in costume and the scene was changed by us changing ends. The only prop a round ball.

Consider what was better value and is this why football is dying but the theatre appears to be going through something of a revival?

Agreed the theatre is a quality night out (although I haven't been for a few years) but the cinema is a tenner these days for about the same lenth as a football match, watching bands can cost anything from a fiver to £50 sometimes for less than a hour. You could also argue that the £6 Enfield Town charge for a lower standard of football is also too much. It's all relative!

The point is that you are almost guaranteed to enjoy a night out at the theatre or cinema or a concert(plus the bonus of being warm & dry). The same could not be said for any football match at any level.

absloute tosh
your not guranteed anything...well maybe the food & drink will be a rip-off if your paying

Hi JKif.

In the excitement of the debate, I omitted to say a word of welcome from me. I've just checked your personal details thingy and its been 5 months to the very day, JK! Had you benn counting through your period of self-imposed exile? Its good to know you're back.

Now don't get carried away, JKiF. There is still something between us. You were absolutely wrong about Chris Piper against Enfield at the Woood in 1999. He was rubbish that night.

£34 each.

I take it you didn't enjoy the match on Monday, then? I thought it was fairly entertaining actually.

Arsenal is 43 notes.
Compared to what I'm use to this season (Friday premitted) it was pretty shocking.
A good job we were pissed, eh mate <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My Arsenal ticket cost me £34 as part of the saving on my season ticket.

You're the person who said that St Albans central midfield partnership is better than the England equivalent, so pardon me if I don't take your football views seriously.

I said that St.Albans midfield passed the ball better than the England midfield (and the Spurs one come to that), not comparing the two on a level playing feild because it's obvious that they are different levels of player, and I thnk anyone that has seen saints games this season and England would agree!
Sorry if that seems so hard for you to comprehend!
