Season So Far

For me a combination of holiday and work commitments in USA has meant that the only game I have seen this season was the Wimbledon match.Life now gets back to normal for a couple of months starting this Saturday versus Maldon. Tho it's possible to keep up to date to a degree via this site it's not easy to form a view on how we are doing overall.

 

Can someone volunteer to summarise what's been good, what's been bad and what I can look forward to seeing in terms of performances over the next few weeks.

There are three big positives I have seen so far this season.

 

1) Hodges back up front where he belongs. He is a real handful and looks a constant threat.

 

2) The loan signing of Leon has been an excellent move. He looks very accomplished at left wing back, gets forward well and puts in a cracking cross.

 

3) Andy Ballard looks another excellent signing. He has not featured much due to injury and suspension but he has a combative all action style which will (I hope) prove popular and effective.

 

The downsides so far are mainly that we do not appear to have clicked as a team. We are conceeding too many goals and have not established a regular pattern to our play. I expect this to improve as the starting XI becomes more familiar with one another and players like Mason and Chopper are now returning from absences and I expect them to start influencing games.

 

I expect Maldon to be a high scoring affair which we will get the better of...just.
