Sadly i am coming to the conclusion that this forum as served its purpose. I believe in free speech as much as the next man ,but with this rarest of liberties in our world comes responsibility. Reading some of the posts over the last few days i think it is time to make it either registration only or to close it.As funny these annons may think they are (and yes not all are irresponsible),Some of what they write is both downright offensive and libellus. As someone who as had the pleasure of spending a fair bit off time at the club this summer i have seen the damage to moral these post can create. Yes people at the club do read the drivel as well as the good posts. What as angerd me as much as anyhing is that reading some post i have realised that certain posters have had to have been to certain games, home and away, both this season and last. Why take the trouble to go to games then to try and destroy what is a great new club, which is going places. So come on you guys either put up and stop hiding behind the shield of annonimity,or shut up. Come on the GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE,UPWARDS and ONWARDS.

The rubbish on this forum is pretty tame compared with some others. There has been some very unpleasant stuff on Folkestone's forum, for example, with threats from the administrator to get the police involved.

If people don't like what they read, they shouldn't come here and then the forum will die a natural death. Simple as that.

Tame compared to others does not make it acceptable,it does not justify what is being poted on this forum. It is only a matter of time before someone realy oversteps the mark and legal action is taken. I also take your last point. So here i say goodbye and good luck. COME ON THE GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE UPWARDS and ONWARDS.

There is some decent stuff, but some strange censorship like the "personal reasons" for John Keisters absence and also a lot of rubbish is posted.

Useful info is put out sometimes like the Cray KO time

Just because our bad is not as bad as someone else's bad it does not make it acceptable. It is bad enough and that is good enough.

I am with Blueblood, please let us have registration only.

The anonymous ones who post the offensive stuff are not supporters of this club. We are. So why should we let them have the opportunity to trash us? This is our community here. We have built it up over a couple of years and it has been immensley helpful in holding us together and keeping the dream of Hartsdown alive in the darkest times. These idiots only post this rubbish to make up for their otherwise pitiful existences, they cannot build anything good so they want to destroy what others have built. It is morally offensive to me that they could succeed.

I have had the privilege of making so many friends through the ether, and gaining so much entertainment, information, and interest through our discussions, that my enjoyment of our team and the game of football that we follow has grown over time. And no, it is not that we always agree on everything, but sometimes reasoned argument adds spice to a discussion. Abuse and libel and puerile comments do not.

But I will still come on here and hope enough true supporters do too to drown these lowlifes out. I will be damned if I am going to let people like this ruin my party.

I remain of the opinion that a registered only forum would be the best way to ensure sensible debate amongst those who care about MFC. Failing that if all registered posters could resist the temptation to reply to the idiots, they may get bored and go back to their holes.

There were times when the forum on my old site was getting to the point where I was considering making it 'registered users' only and the abuse there, at times, was a lot worse than it is here.

However there are also complications that can arise from this such the one I have at the moment...

Currently without Broadband (only until Monday thank God) I have been relying on connecting using a Tiscali Pay As You Go account. Dial-ups are not always that reliable and the speed means those people who are just quickly popping on (at work for example) may not always have the time to log-in if they want to reply to a post.

The action I took was to ban posts from I.P addresses which had been responsible for offensive posts. Although this means that if someone has posted from school/college /work/internet cafe then no-one would be able to post from there. As much of a pain as this can be for innocent people in those places it never really affected things much as most people post from home.

Maybe a spin off forum (MFC registered forum) just for registered users elswhere could be set up by someone in the know. This would leave annons to play on here alone. This would leave some of us having to put up with these people though but this could be the answer and I may even register to get away from them should they continue.
