I wonder, if the fair (ha ha) city of St. Albans is named after an old boy called Alban, should therte be an apostrophe before the "s"?

That missing apostrophe is interesting. St. Albans (the City) itself does not have an apostrophe and after all why should it. As a place name it does not indicate anything that belongs to St Alban(s).

 

But look at Earl's Court and Barons Court. In terms of underground stations they are very close to each other but one has an apostrophe and the other doesn't. It could also be considered that the courts belong to the Baron/Earl so it seems that there should be an apostrophe in both. Or perhaps there is more than one Baron and so the court belongs to the Barons and there should be an apostrephe after the s.

 

The A-Z also suggest that St James owns the Park that bears his name. I think the Queen would have something to say about that. She may not be bothered though as she does own Queen's Park but there again St John owns a wood.

 

Here is another thought will they rename Arsenal underground back to Gillespie Road when the gunners move and will Drayton Park be the new Arsenal.

I think St. Edmund's heart is buried in (what's now) Bury. Didn't he get sorted in Hunstanton near where the lighthouse is (now). And, according to the Vikings, he was a bit of a coward.

The problem with all my ailments was them aliens when I was abuduted. They messed me up with various amputations and when they put me back together they made a hash of it thats why i have all these problems.They even put electrodes on my ears and frazzled my brains(probably why I watch Es )
