With a bit of luck I've found the right board!

I'm arranging a trip to Canvey for the Morecambe Indies an extremely friendly group of non-league supporters. we are playing Canvey on the 29th Oct and I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of any "budget/reasonably priced" accommodation in the Southend or anywhere close area. Not having been inthe area before its very hard to make arrangements. So any help or guidance like pubs to drink in or pubs to avoid would be great. It would of course be reciprocated for the return match.

Well on Canvey itself you only really have the Oysterfleet Hotel but Canvey nightlife is not the best. I`d say you would be better off in a Travel Lodge at either Southend or Basildon.

 

Personally i`d choose Southend because you`re right in the town with plenty of pubs and clubs within walking distance and you`re only a 5 minute walk from the train station,plus you can always walk along Southend pier the morning after to clear your head. Basildon is great if you like clubs (the hotel is on a leisure park) but if you prefer pubs it`s very limited.

 

As for places to avoid, some of the pubs down Southend seafront can get lively and i wouldn`t spill anyones pint in Basildon town centre at closing time.

i'd stick to southend rather than basildon.. we had a good laugh with the morecambe fans last season at the lane . hopefully it will be unsegregated.. im sure our northern scally frds are streetwise enough to handle southends nightlife if they steer clear of the main shiteholes.. and that accent will almost gaurantee some essex slapper will lay down for the cause.. shame kings has shut down

club wise in southend if your between 18 and 23 go to talk or cameleon if your older than that i would say bakers bar,storm or churchills

Reflex sounds like the place for me being 39.1 (cough cough)Although i hope its name is not taken from that crappy song by the Durans!! being the standard of sounds!

I think your able to wear footy shirts in there now. Was in there couple of weeks ago and there was atleast 5/6 people wearing them.

 

Remember me & Glen going in there about 2 years ago and Glen was wearing and england shirt & was told to leave. Very funny indeed

Stay in Basildon, nicer people than those inbreds at sarfend.

 

Festival leisure park with three hotels and about five nightclubs a host of bars and resuraunts.

 

The Camponile is quite close and I am told you can get a Bj for £15 or one off the wrist for a tenner.
