Bedford and the planning application

Hi there. Great start to the season. Keep it up. Now the purpose of my message. Our Borough Council are refusing to look at a planning application that Bedford Town Football Club have submitted, to bring the ground up to Conference standard. Twice they have told our chairman that it will be on the agenda at the next department meeting, and twice they have taken it off due to "legal advice". Football in Bedford died in 1982. If we don't get the planning application even seen at a planning application meeting, then football will be a distant memory in Bedford, yet again. Can I ask anyone reading this message to look at the Bedford Website on www.bedfordeagles.net

There is a full explanation from our chairman and an online petition. Can you sign our petition for us, for added weight to our argument. Thanks for reading this.

We often have applications that are not considered by the local authority for a variety of reasons .

May I suggest you appeal to the DOE against non- determination as soon as the application passes the expiry date indicated on the fee acknowledgement letter .

It is obviously difficult and frustrating for Bedford, having spent two years trying to resolve outstanding problems. It is also difficult to evaluate their case in the absence of detail. The planning appeal route is one option but is better pursued where an application is 'twin tracked' - this allows for negotiations to go on whilst the appeal is being determined and gives the Local Planning Authority a way to grant a permission. The danger of losing an appeal is that the Local Planning Authority can refuse to deal with a similar application made within the next two years.
