Bobby Bowry

WHY?????

Sorry to say it, I think he's a waste of space. He made one good challenge towards the end of the second half on our goal line but spent the rest of the game chasing shadows. I haven't seen him have a decent game yet, maybe I'll be proved wrong on Tuesday.

Please don't give me, 'well, he scored at Hereford' Personally, I'd rather have Surey in there.

Don't agree. I think he has played well so far this season and his overall passing technique has been very good. He calls for the ball alot and knows where he wants it.

As for Ben Surey he can play well but for me doesn't compare with the likes of Bowry and other midfielders such as Saunders, Jacko and Slatter.

I know you said that you didn't want to hear it but at least Bowry can score and looks like scoring.

Don't agree at all.

Having seen all the games this year he has been decent in all of them.

Try just watching him for 1o minutes, see how much ground he covers.

Yesterday he tracked back the length of the pitch to win the ball back after one of his so called more talented colleagues gave it away (again) and the next minute he was setting a move up in the final third.

You must have been looking elsewhere. I thought all the midfield played well, Bowry included, as did the rest of the team, with the exception of one forward player.

I thought the referee was a little pernickty with his whistle blowing. Disrupted the flow of the game on a number of occasions. But there you go.

Bowry plays very simple football, short pass and run into space for the return. Unfortunately some of the players around him would rather pump an aimless high ball forward than play a five yard return.

Have to agree with you there, i am still sitting on fence when it comes to bowry, he doesnt seem to be an exciting player but the things he does he does simple and perhaps that is the sign of a good player.

Some woman said something similar when I was leaving the crowd. "Still don't rate that Bowry. Hardly noticed him today."

That's exactly why I like him, funnily enough. As others have said, Bobby does the simple things well.

i think alot people are wrong, i think Bobby's a great player he brings experience and calm to the midfield. If you watched him for a whole 90 minutes (providing he doesnt get subbed) he doesnt stop with the odd crucial tackle and some super passing, people just dont know a good footballer when they see it.

I'm glad my posting has stimulated such an educated and eloquent response. Nobody would like to be proved wrong more than me and I hope tomorrow night I walk out of the ground with my head lowered in shame after Bowry scores a hatrick and lays on another 6 goals for Jacko!!!!!!!!

However, if he has a nightmare of a game......!

We'll see!

To add to a point made about a woman of the opposite gender having an opinion reminds me of the funniest comment I ever heard at a Fleet game. Years ago, at Burnham and Hillingdon, Portway had equalised and we were under a bit of pressure. This woman in front of me said regarding Portway's defensive capability, "All he does is scores goals!"

Yeah right, about 150 at almost a goal a game. With that sort of return who wants him in defence!!!!!

Needless to say, she got slaughtered.

As for tomorrow night, yeah good luck to Bobby, I hope we are in a good position so that with 10 minutes left Daish can substitute Jim so he gets his own standing ovation.

ps where's that optician?
