Manny

I'm not usually critical of players, but I was disapointed with Manny today. Although close to the play at times, he didn't get a touch of the ball for at least ten minutes, and he will not go for the 50=50 ball. I've seen him play much better in the past, so what's happened to him.

I am of the opinion that he appears to have lost that zest to play football. Maybe he is unhappy at the Fleet.

As you can probably see, Manny's one of my favourite players. But we haven't seen anything from him this league campaign that was so characteristic of him last season. Where's the darting little runs through the defences and the clinical finish? Maybe it's the fact that Charlie Macdonalds now in the team and is arguably better at doing exactly the same? Hope he can get some form back and win back a place in the team.

If you are Manny height and they are whacking it in the air to you against 6ft defenders it hardly gives you a chance to shine. However despite not winning a ball I thought he competed well.

Hit his feet and you will see a different player.

As said before, maybe he gets sick of watching balls aimlessly being pumped over his head?

 

Also if I was a fit centre forward not getting in as a midfielder was being played up front I'd be a little sick.

Yep, there wasn't a lot Manny could do to impress today, with long balls to the forwards a common occurrence, escpecially with McCarthy up front for the last 10 minutes.

 

In the previous two games, he only had about 5 minutes each time to make an impression, which clearly isn't enough. There's no doubting that he isn't quite on top form, but his good display at Canvey shows this hasn't been a problem all season so far.
