Enfield Town 1 St Albans City 1

lovely stuff

Dave Allen's sending off just before half-time: idiotic.

Paul Campbell's run which led to our equaliser: shows that if you play with a 'never say die' attitude then sometimes you'll get the run of the ball. Superb.

Probably our best chance of victory gone after tonight, but following Allen's red card I'll settle for a replay.

Any chance you could try and kick us less in the replay and try and play football?
I've never seen such a dirty team, the Enfield I remember always played good football, no wonder you want to distance yourself from that lot.

Cloggers!!!!!

Its funny how fans see things differently.I thought St Albans were dishing out more than their fair share of the dirty stuff. At least two of your players should have walked on the night, along with Dave Allen. The No3 should have been booked for a reckless challenge after 5 minutes and his subsiquent second half booking, would have seen him sent off.The ref lost control of the tie. Also,i don't see how pulling someones pony-tail is a more serious offence than elbowing someone in the face. The ref seemed to think so.

The Enfield Fc of old used to spank your arses on a regular basis, and now a little Enfield side set up less than five years ago, causes you problems.

Regarding 'playing football'.Towns No11 Jonny Morgan run rings around your right side tonight, and the run by our right-back through most of your team, to set up the equaliser wasn't bad either.

Agree LS

"The No3 should have been booked for a reckless challenge after 5 minutes and his subsiquent second half booking, would have seen him sent off."

It was that disgraceful incident that led to the stuff later on. The players thought that they could get away with anything after that.

And number 5 cant stop anyone without pulling them down. When St Albans couldn't catch us to pull us down we scored!

Your having a laugh Old Son.

Your lot came to Brimo giving it large, stating ETFC were a Pub Team playing in a park and that you would walk it 3 - 0.

In my view the Ref lost control early doors and your No3 should have been long gone before half time.

Dave Allen was crazy, but your version of Mr Savage with the pony tail fell as though he had been shot.

To be honest City "should" have scored a few, but could not hit a barn door on the night.

If Town had gone for an extra forward from the start, who knows what may have happened.

Perhaps we will see on Tuesday.

By the way, the last time I was there, your ground was in....a park !!

You may win by a few goals on Tuesday...but don't count on it Old Son.

The best potential Ref for the game was on the line. Certainly this ref wasn't as good. The ref was the twelth man for St Albans tonight, just as well cos we should have spanked you.

What a bunch of klingons St Albans are, and the play acting was reminiscent of Waltham Abbey. Diving on the ground and rolling around when a town player was barely close enough to make any form of contact, hardly impressive.

They did look a reasonable side going forward I'll grant you that. Lots of good chances that they didn't convert. Defensively St Albans were poor and when Town tested them the defenders grabbed hold and hung on for dear life. Not pretty football especailly when the weak ref runs away and hides. A back elbow from a St Albans defender was a red card offence - deliberate and dangerous. Once the ref had lost control of the game he decided to make an example of David Allen for pulling a ponytail. Killed the game until the end. Grow up ref!

Lovely goal provide by a fantastic Paul Campbell run and a lovely slot home from our International Kojo Ofori. We deserved to win on tonights performance against a poor Conference south team.

Top of the conference? Our boys had the measure of you lot and whilst we may lose at your place we are in the draw on Monday!

Having moaned about Johnny's workrate in a recent match i do feel the need to praise him on tonights performance I though he played well too.

And as for the Manager of St Albans use of the F word to one of our fans there was no call for that and you should know better.

St Alban thought they only had to turn up and we would roll over! AFC Sudbury thought that last year and I saw nothing tonight that made me think you were any danger to our chances of going through.

One chance, one goal mate

Waltham What? Is this some form of Stately Home, never heard of them at our level

It wasn't for a pull on a ponytail, it was for a neck high challenge on our number 9

U12's for Gambia, doesn't count and all you did was kick a very good conference south side

Exeter are top of the conference, must take you a while to find out tables especially if you have to plough through all the tables that seperate us. Enjoy your time in the draw!!!!

I think you'll find the manager of St.Albans can do what he wants, he is after all the manager of St.Albans

What a load of crap, i said we'd win 5-0, now with home advantage I'd say 7-0!

Last night you weren't going to beat an egg without help from the ref and a Mrs Beeton cook book.

EFM - As far as I'm concerned from my neutral viewpoint, St. Albans started the physical stuff and Enfield Town were quite prepared to give you as good as you got. The referee was extremely patient and tried to give the game a chance, otherwise at least two St Albans players would have found his notebook much earlier in the game.

As for one shot one goal, I saw two very good chances in the first half alone. One excellent reflex save from your 'keeper and a powerful free header that would have given your 'keeper no chance if it had been just the other side of the post. The quality of the St. Albans finishing on the night was just plain awful.

Cheers PBT. You seem to have seen it from a similar viewpoint to me.

I hope the attitude of EFM is one that the City players have on Tuesday, although I doubt it.

If Town can change tactics and "run at their back line" especially the 3, 5 and 6, we will cause them problems. They continually fouled to stop Town forward runs.

Having said all this, they did make several "easy" scoring chances and om another day they could have scored a few !

OT

I also have to agree with what you wrote. However most of the scoring chances came in the second half when we were without Dave Allen.

A friend who was with me afterwards thought that a 1-1 draw was a fair result. I pointed out to him that St Albans had hit the bar and had a number of scoring opportunities that they should have put away. There again the St Albans defence does look suspect to pace and the wing men - John Morgan and Dean Green - did seem to have a lot of time on the ball. Paul Campbell and Kojo demonstrated that falibility with pace with the goal.

It is a long time since I have gone so delerious over a goal. I recall dancing with my back to the pitch and cheering until I pulled myself together. Turned back to the pitch and noticing the genuine delight on the players faces as they swamped Kojo and Rudi almost squeezed the life out of him.

all this is very intersting.

Chatting to a friend of mine who has not been to ETFC before, he is a Spurs fan who lives in Stansted Abbotts but who happened to have a free evening, he said ETFC were a little lucky to get the draw on chances but probably earned it for their spirit. He also said that Allen was a little unlucky to walk bearing in mind all that had gone before and made refernce to the fact that Saints were a misnomer (look it up) as they were the main protaganists and could also have won several diving championships. BTW other than the sending off the booking count was 4 saints 1 etfc.

It wasn't until I came on here that I realised anything was amiss. Perhaps the Saints fan could try opening both eyes when he watches a game.

Ditto! Even old misnomer Mr Happy went delirious. Those that remained at the Town end stand after St Albans scored were very pleased.

What a terrific night for Town. Jim prepared and sent out an excellent side, and I for one am proud of all of them. It appeared to me that Town had St Albans rattled all evening, even with a man advantage for an hour. Was the pace of the game not what they are used to? They certainly seemed happy enough with the physicality!

If I was a St Albans supporter I think I'd be more worried about the apparent lack of fitness of some of the players. Over the season that's got to be more important that winning one FA Cup tie.
