Match Day Advertising

Has anyone seen any Posters or Flyers (and I don't mean the winged pork variety) around giving details of Fleet home matches. We had this problem last year. How can we expect to increase gates if we don't advertise home matches. Not having been to the Fleet Leisure facility as yet, I would hazard a guess and say that a poster is unlikely to exist there either. Thats my winge over. Bye, Bye.

I think we need a large advert in the express or other local paper. Maybe with a child free with paying adult or similar promotion.

To get a new stadium is going to requie attendances to increase.

We need to get the press to talk up the victories and battling draws , and down talk the defeats.

We need to get adverts in shops and pubs.

For example , my mate never knew there was a bar at the ground. He is thinking of coming down in a few weeks to watch the fleet and wathc Engalnd in the Bar (assuming they are showing it)

At the moment , there is 1000ish supporters. Anyone else who comes should be seen as a bonus input financially to the club. Then they need to be captured for the future.

Other ideas suggested. Entry for a tenner to season ticket holders of Gillingham or Charlton.Probably best to aim at weekends when the teams are away at somewhere like Sunderland or Grimsby.

But above all , we need to make sure people know where we are and what we are doing and what the league is all about. Unfortunatley , there is a stigma that The Confernece is non-league and therefores must be a poor standard. People therefore think £12 is too much to get in.

And with Premiership attendances falling due to the 4-5-1 formation played by a lot of clubs and fans refusing to pay up to £70 for a ticket - maybe now is the time to capitalise on this by attracting "local" fans that would normally go to Charlton, or Millwall or Gillingham for that matter.

Agreed Jim, but I don't think we can target genuine fans of other clubs. I have a lot of mates who are Charlton season ticket holders and will never defect to us. The best I can do is to get them to three or four Fleet games a season. What we need to do is get the armchair and bar stool so called footie fans to get of their backsides and come down to Stonebridge Road <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I was out in Dartford the other day at a car fire. In the window of the adjacent house was a poster advertising Dartford's League Cup game with Chatham. As we were going to be away at Hereford I thought I'd give them a go. I have never seen a poster in the Dartford area, or Northfleet for that matter advertising our games. The club can't rely on the same 800 odd turning up without trying to reach out to the 'floating' football supporter. For example, my brother is a Gillingham season ticket holder ( I got the sanity gene!!!!) and whenever they are away he comes to Northfleet, why, because he asks me if we're at home. I try to get my work colleagues to come down but am met with derision from armchair football watchers who, like another poster mentioned, think because we are "non-league" then the quality can't be any good. I always preferred the term amateur but you can't apply that to Northfleet or nearly all of the Conference now anyway.

True, I've seen some atrocious games over the past 25 years, but I've seen a hell of a lot more crackers but when a Premiership game is bad it's always put down to the players being overtired from having played in Europe or an International.... oh diddums!

Remind me how much they get paid again?

Give us the posters and we will display them!

Exactly. Obviously, I live in Rainham, there are many people who live in Chatham and the rest of the Medway towns. I'm sure if Charlton can steal Gillingham's fans then so can we.I'm not suggesting that the club lay on coaches but let's get the message out. I think Gills are charging 25 oncers. That's obscene!

To comment on another posting, the idea of allowing Charlton/Gillingham season ticket holders in for a tenner does leave a nasty taste. The true supporter..... ME....... has always paid full price with no perks. I wouldn't expect to get in to see Chatham for less than the regulars although if you want a good tip, get there early with a 20 pound note cos they can't change it and let you in for nothing. Happened to me at Ruislip many years ago too!

Well, if like me, you've still got that "Free Ticket with a season ticket holder" ticket in your season ticket, that could be used to give to a more "casual" fan, rather than given to your friend who would've gone anyway.

As for advertising, I'm not sure if they still have them but in Gravesend library, they had Gravesend & Northfleet flyers that you could pick up that advertised last season's games, I think. Or at least the pre-season matches. They still had them in there after the season had ended, I think.

For my part , if I visit a customer who has any internet issues , I add www.gnfc.co.uk to there favorites as well as my own site.

Also , got a nre supporter although he is a Arsenal fan , he cant afford prem footie. Lives in Northfleet and bringinghis boy this afternoon to see what its like.

Was a little sceptical when I said we played at a pretty decent standard. His reply. "though they were all decorators and window cleaners is non league."

Maybe thats the slogan we should use "Not just a bunch of decorators. Visit the Fleet this saturday" or similar
