thanks Mike,i can see you appreciate the kind of philosophy i'm trying to instill at the club i work for.seeing a 16 and a 17 years old player being called and starting a game for the first team(herman and luke) after only a handful of matches in the reserves is a satisfaction and as you said you can have a young side that is not winning anything (still to see yet)but will push quite a few young players through.there is a lot of crap that you have to put up with but i'm old enough and able to handle it,first because the rewards outweight the bad things and second being a coach i'm more concerned about performances and players taking things on board.time will tell who is going to laugh last. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/pipe.gif" alt="" />

i think the working relationship between a 1st team manager and reserve manager needs to be good, they need to sing from the same hymnsheet and have a common goal!!

you either want a reserve team that will sweep the board or one that will eventually become the 1st team of the future!!

At hornchurch we have won cups and leagues with the youth teams and had some great times..but the biggest buzz i have had is when we had 4 under 18s make it into the conference south side....seeing a 16 year old youth player hit the winner in a fa cup tie..and being at boston last season in the fa cup and watching another of our youth players beat 3 men before smashing the ball home...... winning youth games ...cups ...and leagues is great ...but seeing the lads make the step up and doing well is much much better
