Hereford Thoughts

Firstly - well done to the 37 others who made it there tonight, the players seemed to really appreciate it.

Special mention has to go to Kenny who invented numerous new chants including one about running away.

A draw was a fair result, both teams had good spells with us forcing numerous corners but not really capitalising until right at the end.

Their goal was usual Hereford, a quick switch of play (left to right) over the head of Glozier with a ball cut back for the increaingly ugly Craig Stanley to smack in from about 5 yards - noone tracked him but then he was playing "in the hole". Disappointingly their goal came from us having possession on the edge of their box.

Conceding seemed to make us play better and finally we got a deserved equaliser having narrowly missed earlier on when Bowry managed to somehow backheel volley it over from a tight angle.

A corner was swung in, Saunders nodded it back across goal, it bobbled about a bit before Sir Robert of Bowry scampered in and smashed it through a dozen bodies into the net before legging it to the dugouts to leap about.

A solid away performance in all, everyone put in a decent shift.

Glozier came in for Skins as he was suffering from a "stomach complaint".

Bring on Kiddy on Saturday.

4 points from Halifax and Hereford. Well happy with that.

Just need to consolidate Saturday and Tuesday and hopefully kick on from there.

Kenny again provided loads of entertainment. personally , I judge the standard by the number of "Donky meat" chants. Only one last night which equates to a reasonable team.

Good to hear a nice cheer whne he finally shouted it out deep into the second half.

My thoughts on Hereford. I know you've all been waiting on the edge of you seats all day but here they finally are.

First off you can all calm down on the Goalkeeper front, Holloway was good and did what was asked of him. I wouldn't say he was fantastic as he didn't have anything out of the ordinary to do but what he did do he did it well enough.

We played quite attacking football with Chalie Mac getting at the defenders never give up despite when he lost the ball. Jukebox was nothing special but played pretty well. He wasn't superb but did what was asked of him.

Slatts ran the midfield again getting stuck in when needed. Ross Smith was once again immense at center back and along side him Paul McCarthy looks a different player than last season. Both the responsability of the captain and having Ross back there has helped him.

Bowry's passing was as ever good as he laid things off trying to make things happen.

Fantastic at the end as Jay made sure the players came over to give us a clap. All in all a very good night out, a few murmers of not good enough from the Hereford fans as we left the ground put a smile on my face, they've stood still and we've moved forward.

However this is still diabolical we have players that although are the best we've ever had are still not good enough for GNFC. The previous clubs they have played for are not the sort of clubs we should be buying off.

If we continue to play like this then we will be returning to Bedford but under different circumstances to the last time we were there.

Me, Jimmy and the Daish out nine will have our banners ready for this Saturdays match against Kiddy.

Interesting to see various websites, including Kent Online, erroneously copying each other by describing Bowry's winner as an effort from the edge of the box, when it was in fact from about 10-12 yards out.

The main thing that struck me about last night's match was the similarity of it to our visit to Edgar Street last season. We created little for much of the first hour or so, conceded a goal scored from the edge of the six-yard box after good play down the right... but unlike last season, when we slid to a deserved defeat, we managed to pull an equalizer out of the bag, despite not playing all that brilliantly. Hopefully this indicates an improvement from last season on our ability to pick up points in adversity - a helpful attribute if we're looking to finish higher up than last season.

Jay and Craig were probably the best last night, although Ross (as usual) and Danny, amongst others, were solid. A special mention for the effort put in by Charlie too.

The long ball was too often a feature last night, but, given the pressure we managed to exert and the fact that Hereford weren't too much better (pace aside), a point was fair.

Harry's attempt at satire I suspect.

I meant consolidate as in confirm our position as one of the leagues top teams.

Personally , I have not seen anything form any opposition this season to make me stand back in amazement.

Six points in then next week and we will have a bunch of very confidnet players and optomisitc fans (less the tea hut brigade)

Grays were nothing special for me, we were just really poor that night.

Grays will leak goals and as soon as the heavy pitch's and injuries hit along with teams finding out how they play they'll start to slip down the league.

Thats the good thing about us, don't just try and score more then the opposition remain cautious and attck when we can.

I was not amazed at Grays , but disapointed in our performance that night.

We were poor in that game , and going down to ten men and late goals inflated things a little.

The record books will say 6-1 Grays , like they will say 3-1 Scarborough , yet against Scarborough we were the better team and conditions and poor refereeing conspired against us.

Thats whi I state that I have not seen anyone significantly better then us this season
