LOAN SIGNING !!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Just in case anybody needs reminding...

Rule 18.

(j) Temporary (loan) Transfers

(i) A player on temporary (loan) transfer is ineligible to compete unless permission is given by the lending Club in writing and a copy is received by The Association by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the date fixed for playing the Round. A registered Trainee or a player who is registered on a Scholarship may play for another Club subject to written permission being given by the Club he is registered to which must be received by The Association by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the date fixed for playing the Round. The Association will not give permission for players on loan to play against the lending Club.

So is that last Friday or this Friday?

Thanks for that contribution, mdet.

From quotes attributed to Gibbo last year, the loan agreement with Hornchurch relating to Jamie Southon included 'written permission' by the Urchins for t'lad to play for us in the FA Cup. Clearly, that didn't constitute 'written permission' in acccordance with the wording above. I think we ought to get something signed in blood by Steve Coppell.

How much do we owe you, mdetaylor. Put a fee account in the post, old chap.

I think that its a without prejudice, mutatis mutandis, subect to contract, fide et fortitudine, preliminary view for discussion purposes only, Caretaker. Its 'pro bono' as well.

Probably best to cross the fingers, make sure that we all go to mass on Friday and Sunday. Just hope for the best.

A view on the wording.

When the draw is made they usually say "ties to be played on x day and x day of x month" to account for Saturday and Sunday games but the FA publishes the FA Cup Round dates at the start of the season.

This season they are as below. As the FA refers to the dates as Round dates and as the loan rules refer to a Round then my interpretation is that you take Saturday 24 at the Round date and work back from there (Round is a defined term in the loan rules but I cannot find a copy of them to get the precise definition so have made and "educated guess" - if you want clarity you will need a full copy of whatever document the loan rules appear in).

With the greatest of respect ...."interpretation" ..."educated guess" ...the words frighten me when you take recent history into account but you could of course be spot on.

As I said earlier I hope someone has checked for definite and of course its all subject to him being allowed to play by his club anyway.

Fingers crossed on both counts.
