Am I right in thinking this will be our first ever league meeting?

1993/94. FA Cup. Away, won 3-0.

1990/91. FA Trophy. Home, won 2-1.

1985/86. FA Cup. Home, drew 2-2. Lost replay 2-1.

1982/83. Kent Senior Cup. Away, lost 3-0.

Bromley played in the Athenian League and the Isthmian League in the 50s.

We played them in the FA Cup a couple of times, once at Hartsdown around 1954 and I think without checking Jeff's site the score was 4-2 and they had some England amateur internationals in those days. Tom Cornthwaite was the goalie and then names like Dennis Studley and Ron Heckman come to mind. In 1955, the equivalent to this week I suppose, we beat them one nil in the FA Cup.

 

They were a pretty big amateur side and won the Amateur cup around 1949. I think their captain on that occasion was an ex Margate player.

Eric Fright was captain of Bromley when they won the Amateur Cup in 1949 and played 7 games for Margate during 36/37, scoring twice.

A little gem from my pre-WWII database ! Always storing up info for future use. Apparently Mr Fright worked at Vyes in Margate and later ran a large sports shop in Bromley.

The official site detail the next game as Carlshalton.

 

It should of course say -next home game.

 

The official site consistently publishes the next home game but no the next game )home or away )

A fan is a fan, however long or short.

I met a really good one on Saturday and it was his first game, and he brought his dad along too.

Don't rubbish new fans, cos our future depends on them.

7 weeks? Dont think so...I met Margate fans over 3 months ago...get your facts straight. Look at the date of registration...07/05/05...doesnt sound like 7 weeks to me does it now anonymous? As Ive said before Ive supported Margate before joining here but no one would really believe I was a fan until I went to a game and joined in thereby proving was a fan, something I didnt have the time for nor have the money to do.

 

Good point over the game tomorrow corgy...my mistake. Mistook it for 18th not 19th Sept.
