the heron returns....

and I'm serious...every year at around this time and with FA Cup ties looming...the eastside heron returns to his emerald green autumn home....I saw him on friday for the second time in a week....circling the pitch and making sure that the tawny owl on the eastside is still wooden and not real....

we have only ever lost one cup tie at home when the heron returns and that was tranmere...(crick cheats cheats cheats... ) and we all know that we won that really...

is this a lucky omen once again bestowed upon the urchins by the great gods of football...

we shall see come saturday when we take on the might of the Ryman Premier League against Worthing...

Won't be easy. Worthing beat AFC Wimbledon at Wimbledon yesterday.

Well, in Florida we saw Great Blue heron (white morph), tricolored heron, little blue heron, brown heron, and white crowned night heron, as well as great egret, cattle egret and snowy egret. Not to mention black vulture, red shouldered hawk ...

Anyway, the Riverside heron has been a regular visitor this season.

saw a little egret, actually saw a few together over hornchurch country park, early may,a site that is more likely nowadays than 10-15 years ago when they were very rare visitors to s.e.england

haven't seen any vultures round here though but i did see a red kite a few weeks ago flying over my house and a buzzard near warley last week
