The Riverside has the added advantage of listening to the opposition bench moan, better cup of tea, you can say hello to uncle, better seats and you can hear the eastside better.
The Eastside is closer to the bar, the shop and they serve chips.

But no matter what side you go, the football is excellent.

Agree wholeheartedly with these sentiments; "the Riverside quintet" have been attending now for a couple of years and there's nowhere finer than the halfway line - directly opposite the Eastside choir. That way you get the full benefit of a decent cuppa combined with the vocal talents which only the Eastside can bring to the game. I suppose we might try to start up some chants from our side ("Down by the Riverside" springs to mind) but then I don't really think we could compete with the Eastside..........

I've been going for about 3 years and have sat in both Eastside and Riverside. I now sit in the Riverside. You get value for money in the Riverside as you can watch the Eastside disco and hear commnets from both benches.I was right behind Kevin Hales when he (allegedly) punched an opposition player at their (Danny Hill/Kevin Hales) last match - top quality entertainment or what

the riverside does seem to be a bit "tartan blanket and thermos flask" - even in the summer, they mean well though. i just hope they can be encouraged to make a bit more noise now.

if we shout "we're the eastside, we're the eastside, we're the eastside of the bridge" - i want to hear you all letting us know you're the riverside. not the silence we normally get

let em know we're all there.

Take your point on the zimmer-frame front, but also we're not all as uninhibited as you, and1inthetree, plus we're families (my "Riverside quintet" are, and there are several Riversiders who are in the same bracket). Suggest you and several other trained choristers from the Eastside pop over to the Riverside for the second half at our next home game and show us how it's done.......

First couple of times I went to watch HX I sat in the Riverside and it's a bit too quiet for my liking. You can't reallly have a rant at the ref or generally shout abuse at the opposition goalie without getting a funny look. I do know some people who sit on the Riverside so don't want to be too critical but I do prefer the atmosphere standing on the Eastside. That and I hate sitting down at football!!!

One must recall, that over the past few years we have been drown out/prohibited from our vocal talents, due to numerous bands which have caused much debate from all corners. so one can hardly say that we are quiet.

As far as Tartan blanket is concerned, I don't own one as it would be an insult to the cloth.

Anyway who would want to miss the likes of Demitre Kharine, George Borg throwing his teddy and the stretcher and Gary Hill his cup of tea. So roll on the next ten years and god help us if they allocate us seats.
