Video Clips of Halifax Game

Not wonderful. Post ruins the 1st. Missed the 2nd - didn't have the camera switched on after my return from a half time pint. Still fumbling around by the time of the 3rd, I hadn't zoomed in properly.

Usual apologies for the banal background comments.

Halifax ride their luck

1-0

3-0

4-0

Cannot believe this was the same Halifax that played us off the pitch last March. Also cannot believe how many really fickle supporters we have. Today's result should see them return next Saturday - but how many will decide it's still not worth it if we lose at Hereford in midweek?

Exeter and Cambridge are probably the two biggest away followings if it wasn't for their fans it would be 500 lower than last year. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I meant numbers of home fans - average home fan attendance is about 85 this year and was probably about 1200 last year

Other big games to come, though - Kidderminster, Hereford, Aldershot, and Daggers on Boxing Day (it must help having the Boxing Day Fixture at home and New Year game away rather than the other way round).

If we continue to get good results, the fans will come back and we could get some decent crowds for those types of game

People said after the Cambridge game that attendances would pick up as we got into September and the holiday season ended. I was inclined to agree with them, but more attendances like yesterday's will make me wonder about the effect of the £12/£6 prices again.

That said, a reduction of a sixth in the home attendance theoretically brings about the same income, of course.

Lower attendances seem to be causing concern in all divisions at the moment, including the Premiership.

I notice that the Daily Mail has introduced 'crowd watch' on most, if not all, of their match reviews comparing actual attendances with capacities.

Even on Radio 2, on the finance part of the Johnny Walker Show yesterday evening, football attendances got a mention. The general concensus appeared to be that cost of going to football matches was the overriding reason for lower attendances. They compared the lowest ticket cost of going to see Crawley Town (£11 apparantly) with Bayern Munich and Ajaz (£8). A hell of a difference compared with the standard of football that you are likely to see. It would seem that the award for the highest ticket prices in England goes to Spurs.

If the above is right then lower attendances at Stonebridge Road are almost certainly as a direct result of the cost.

Sad but it would appear to be true.
