The trouble with the Laws Of The Game is that there is little middle ground with a challenge like that. Sodje won the ball, but the ref obviously interpreted the challenge as dangerous and, once he'd done that, had to send him off. As decision 4 under law 12 states, 'a tackle, which endangers the safety of an opponent, must be sanctioned as serious foul play', i.e. a red card. In a scenario like that when the ball is won, it's likely to be a red or nothing, highlighting the shortcomings of this particular aspect of the Laws.

Only seven points behind top-spot and we've still got a few relegation battlers to come, in my view we're in with a shout off the play-offs.

Steady the buffs! I think I'll put that prediction down to youthful exuberance on superb's part.

Nonetheless, a fine result yesterday. The game reminded me a little of our 4-0 whipping of Scarborough last season, where we deserved the win but probably didn't deserve to hand out such a tonking. Furthermore, after much debate over what our best side was leading into this season, it's nice to see real stability of team selection in defence and midfield at the moment. Even swapping 'keepers made no noticeable difference.
