Today's Game (Halifax)

Great game today, well deserved 4 - 0 in my book, should have been more but for a ridiculous sending off. No way was that a straight red, we were shouting when we thought it was gonna be a yellow.

Everyone played well, with Ross Smith standing out again, he's looking like player of the season already. Some lovely play from the forwards, especially Drury's moves that led to the penalty.

The sending off was caused by one of the posters on here by the way... Jeff was saying seconds before that the ref was having a pretty good game. He seemed to lose it almost instantly from there

Halifax were woeful, no invention and actually got worse when they had a man advantage! Still, as the Halifax fella on their board clicks into predictable gear:

"What a complete disgrace. How can we go from beating a team 4-0 one week and looking like a promotion chasing team to an absolute battering by a little nob head team like gravesend??"

Heee heeeee. The nob-head (sic) team p!ssed all over your boys.

It was a jinx I was saying to my brother that the ref was having a good game. I didnt really see the sodje challenge, from the trust hut it looked like a bit of a lunge, but that the fax player made a meal of it. Great great performance from the boys today, football football and more football. awesome. just tore them apart. I thought fax looked ok for the first 20/25 minutes, it was end to end stuff. the defence is looking good, ross smith looks awesome. Discounting Scarborough last week where we weren't allowed to play football(sloppy conditions) this week was my first since the Grays game and the improvement is immense. roll on hereford.

Good game today. Good performance from the team. Where to comment on the ref! here or my other thread! Oh well here will do!

First half the ref had a reasonable game. He missed the elbow incident! After the sending off though the Halifax players took advantage of the ref as a soft touch, and were falling over at every opportunity. The ref lost the plot then! The penalty happened right in front of me and yes Drury was caught but did go down a bit easy. I would not have expected a penalty on any other day, but as I said the ref had to give it as he had been giving fouls everywhere else on the park for slight challenges.

The lads played really well today, it was a pleasure to watch. Now if we can just get a few more bods through the gate...

Well that was a bit of a game wasn't it!

Well deserved victory today, knew it was going to be our day when Slatters shot went in off Macdonalds backside! (Is he really going to claim it? As a striker I bet he does!)

You have to feel for the Halifax supporters, I mean last year they totally played us off the park and today they were the worst side to come here so far this season. Talk about Jeckyl and Hyde!

I was pretty close to the sending off and it was an extremely poor decision, yes there was a lunge by Sodje but there appeared to be no intent and he won the ball. The 'Fax defender made more than a meal of it and the Ref who was way off the action bought it hook line and sinker.

I reckon there was a passage of play for a good 10-15 minutes when apart from throw-ins, we didnt get a single decision going our way. When you include the elbow incident and the failure to even book the 'Fax defender for the trip for the penalty, (Goal scoring chance, last defender?) then we can safely assume that the ref had a bit of a stinker.

Mind you it a nice return to the good old days of hurling abuse at opposition players and refs!

Shame there wasn't too many to see what was a very professional performance! 918? thats rubbish! what is wrong with our supporters?

It would have been 920.
"Mummy's at work Saturday, I want to go to football with you."
"Hmmmmm.....unusual," I thought. Departed at 14.00, with daughter in tow. Got into town where the confession is made:

"I don't want to go to football, it's boring."
"Well why say that you wanted to go?"
"So I didn't have to go to Aunty Angie's."
"Tough. We're going to football."

Then followed tantrum & tears in the town centre, with me daring not to try to drag her along for fear of being accused of abduction or something by a passer-by.

So that was that. Shopping trip with a 7 year old instead.
"At least we had some father & daughter time Daddy."

Hmmmmm. Very smart 7 year old there, but she won't get away with that one again!

Thought we played brilliant today. For those who thought Halifax were going to be in the play-offs at the end of the season, I think after todays performance need to think again!

Thought that a straight red card for Sodje was a bit harsh, maybe a yellow for the challenge but certainly no more.

I agree with Chris, Ross Smith could certainly be an early contender for Player of the season at the moment. He certainly has played well for us so far.

Brilliant result today, even though another fairly low crowd. But the result is what counts. Hopefully now we can go on to get something from Hereford on Tuesday night.

Good performance today. As mentioned first 20 to 25 minutes were pretty even, with Halifax probably holding onto the ball better than we did. Buut after this initial period we took control and fully deserved the scoreline.

Well done to all, a few more games like that and we may creep back over the 4 figure crowd mark again..

I feel it was never a red (never mind the foul.). The player was bound to go over as he's a defender who obviously isn't used to being slide tackled. To be fair on the ref he wasn't that greatly assisted by the lino. If a Halifax fan was being harsh he/she could say the goals were flukes. But then again thats what you get from constant pressure.

Sorry to disagree with everybody on here but Sodje's straight red was thouroughly deserved. If you go in with both feet, studs up then the Referee (whether he/she be good or bad) has no option whatsoever. If it had been done to one of our players, you lot would have been wanting to erect a scaffold in the centre circle and have the bloke hanged!!!!!!

yer to tell the truth I was in the pub with some fellow fans friday night and i sed 3-0 but they sed never
I'm a bit worried by attendances, I mean before todays game it was something like 1 defeat in 5 and that was away? Also we were sitting pretty good at 12th spot, yet we still cant get that attendance over 1,000!

Someone around me said he got a little knock and it was just a precaution.

It must have been even more special for him at the halifax game yesturday as his dad flew all the way from toronto just to watch the match (...or so it says in the NLP...)

That is one dedicated dad/supporter!
