Scarborough view of the game

I made the same point in another thread after our victory against Northwich and hearing the reaction of their supporters .

The only thing that is starting to grate, is the reaction from other teams fans after games. There appears to be a common perception that we are team of up and under cloggers, who use our physical presence to intimidate their more cultured football.

But from what I can see, is that we have certain characteristics in abundance that are lacking in most other teams. We may be one of the few part timers in the league, but we are better orgainised, more commited and exude a greater team spirit than all others. This coupled with the undoubted skill in the side , makes us difficult opponents for anyone.

These attributes can only be installed by the Management team, and for that, all of us at the back of the stands applaud you.

Saturdays game was a prime example. When it came down to it, the Fleet boys wanted it more and stopped Scarboro' ever really getting into the game. Its not route one , up and under stuff, its a commited team that compete for everything and are always well organised by Andy and his management team. This organisation shines thru' which ever XI players take the pitch. Indeed, if we had a fully fit squad, I don't think any of the back four from saturday would be playing.

Anyway I will gladly settle to keep hearing these whingers from other teams, as long as they all roll over like Scarboro, and hand us the 3 points.

There are times when you wish that our defenders play the ball to feet along the deck when they get it, but as a new team in a very tough league, you have to make sure that you clear your lines first and foremost. I's rather see a defender lump one into the road than give it away with a sloppy pass. It seems that the teams we are beating can't accept losing to the Fleet, as they seem to think they have a devine right to beat us. Long may it continue that we keep getting results such as Saturday's so we can look forward to a healthy top half finish.

I agree fleet fella, Lew Watts gave it away a few times when he should've lumped it, defence looked a bit dodgy at times, missing Francis and Aaron, but we looked great going forward and as long as we are scoring more than we concede all well and good, it makes entertaining viewing, Scarborough fans I spoke too all seemed a great bunch, we're playing them away pretty soon, strange how the fixtures work out!

Johnny - I've found that too. Speak to the oppos at games and they seem decent people genuinely interested in how we are getting along, then low and behold when we win, every oppo wants to call us a team of up and under, over physical nobodies from the ryman. Keep bringing 'em on and keep beating them lads!!

It's great to be back posting again. Work has been so hectic that I've only had time to put my predictions in recently!!!!
