Can someone tell me why the Thanet Times runs a comp 4 Free tickets to Gillingham games if u answer the question correctly. Why can`t they do this 4 a free ticket or a pair of tickets to a Margate game makes more sense a thanet paper surporting a thanet club not a medway one .Plus this would be more advertising 4 the club you could even run a family ticket comp just to entice more family surport to the matches.

I think its due to the connection being the Kent Messenger. Gillingham is the best team in Kent and so the promotion is on them. The KM papers have always supported Gillingham above any other Kent team...look at the KoS...no mention of Margate or Ramsgate at all. Gillingham gets pages.

It doesn't surprise me that Gillingham get more press coverage than anyone else, I mean, they're the only football league club in Kent and to be fair there are a few clubs around the same level as Margate, am a little surprised that Gravesend don't get a little more, but then again who cares?

would still be nice though if the main thanet papers could do a bit more , i know they cover the gate games alot better than they used to but i think they could still add a little more spice to the club itself.

I know for a fact that people who work for the thanet times get free tickets from the Gills for a box,my mate is up there tonight seeing Gills v Barnsley.

I think the Thanet times today is being very generous in its publicity for us.Ramsgates victory on Saturday, and indeed their excellent start to the season imo surpasses ours,but look at what space is devoted to them today in contrast to what we have.I am a Margate supporter but believe that the local papers do not give enough coverage to Ramsgate.On the question of tickets for Margate matches ,has any one thought that maybe the Club has not been in contact with the local papers with details of offers etc the papers can only act on what information they are given!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

There should be an advert in there too,as someone mentioned to me today,advertising the next game/games.The Times/gazette used to have one in there so again the club should be forking out for this.I seem to see a slackness of the club in pushing the boat out on publicity in this way, in a lot of areas. Dont they want the people/cash to flow in?

On a cynical note here, perhaps the management expects the MISA to carry out the publicity for MFC without the need to ask for help from them. A sort of informal deal...the management provide the players, the supporters provide the crowds... Cynical maybe but one look at it.

Because ANYTHING helps Peter.Why be content with what we have,why not go for even MORE support on the day.

There isnt much talk amongst reports about our future games are there? Besides if ONE person today noticed a lack of advertising the next game then I am sure there are others out there too who have thought the same. A nice "box" soley for the next match will look better and be seen more easily. Not everyone reads the reports but might just see an advert like the one I am talking about.The club USED to do it so why not again?

Sometimes you have to speculate to accumalate and that saying is very true!

I doubt if paying for adverts would cover the costs. No doubt I will be "corrected"
