Is my aforementioned post 1990? Resurrection and Waterfall were my two previous favourites, but Sally Cinnamon took the crown over the weekend.

Sally Cinnamon was 1987. Their first 'proper' single release. B-sides All Across The Sands and Here It Comes.

 

So Young was earlier, but sh*t and doesn't sound like them.

Not really. I've got the album, but it's a bit samey really. Some good tunes, but not an album I really return to.

Does anyone else feel that although there are a lot of good indie/ guitar bands about there are no real EXCELLENT ones, ones like the stone roses who will be talked about for generations to come?

 

I was in HMV the other day and usually theres loads of new albums that I want to get, but at the moment I find myself thinking 'well, ill buy it but there'll only be one or two good songs on in and then I wont listen toi it for ages'.

 

I've been leaning towards the more hip-hop/rap type stuff recently, like M.IA and the Mitchell Brothers (yep!),a t least they are different and their tunes stand out!

Summed up absolutely perfectly, Chubbster. This is what I try and explain to Thornsy. I'm sure his guitar/indie bands are okay, but there's nothing about to excite me like hearing a new Stone Roses, Charlatans or even Inspirals single in the early 90s.

I know what you fellas mean about new good indie/ guitar bands tho. Mind you I reckon both Kasabian's and The Killers' albums are the best I've heard in ages- I was a bit disappointed the Kaiser Chiefs' to be fair.
