Suspensions Updated

Guys....Remember a while ago, we all had a bee in our bonnets about Suspensions in the Senior League!

We all had a good debate about why Essex Senior league players serve bans in "Days" whilst higher leagues serve them in "Matches".

The scenario was giving that if a Southern League club played a Senior League Club in the FA Cup and a player from each side was sent off for violent conduct towards each other! This would result in a 3 game ban for the Southern league player but a 5 week ban for the Senior League Player (Potentially 10-12 games)

Anyway, I contacted the Essex FA for some reasoning...see the below response!

Hi Jason

Under FA Regulations for season 2005-2006 a club from Step 4, Ryman's

League Division 1, Southern League Division 1, up to Nationwide

Conference national division, will be dealt with by match suspensions.

Players of Clubs at Step 5 in the Non League Pyramid, Essex Senior

League, Ridgeons League, Ryman Division 2, etc and below have day

suspension.

Plans are being put in place for season 2006-2007 Step 5 will also have

match suspensions rather than day suspensions, mainly for the reasons

you have outlined.

I hope this answers you question adequately.

Regards,

Greg Hart

Essex County FA
