Rookie midfielders2004 v Rookie midfielders 2005

For the sake of reasonably lighthearted MFC football debate,i would regard Burke and Osman as this years intake of Rookie midfield players.

(i think Browne would class as more than a rookie, and we are yet to see Sacha).

I've not seen much of Burke and Osman, but did see too much of Benevides and Charamboulos who i would regard as last years draft .

Whats everyones views on how this years draft of Rookie midfielders in Burke and Osman compares with last years in Benevides and Charamboulos.

(for the sake of comparison try and see Benevid, and Charam in their midfield roles only.

My personal view is that notwithstanding the different division, this years intake in Burke and Osman is quite alot better than last years, though to be fair Benevides did improve quite a bit.

The bigges pity seems that the club spends 8 months turning them into a reasonable player and then loses them at end of season for others to benefit

I think with Alexis it was his dad that got him where he was {is}. Peter needed support which he didnt get. This team we have at the moment is twice the team we had last season. We just need an in form Oates and Keister he was dier against Cowes with long passes. Mind you i still havent forgiven him for leaving us in the learch in the season getting to the conf. Burke seems to have plenty of skill but to many step'overs when easier to strike.

Burke needs to be given a chance. I didnt think he had it in him but on saturdays showing I thought he showed plenty to suggest that a more central, more permanent role may be to both his and our advantage. What is true,as St.Peter says is that he does do too many "roll overs". That WAS evident too on saturday and he needs to kick that habit quickly. But at the same time it showed he was growing in confidence and I do think he will prove better than Peter or Alex. Osman too needs a longer run as he seems to know how to take players on and looks confident as soon as he comes on.Two young guys with some skill and confidence. One a midfielder who can do the easy pass,as was that pin-point spectacular pass on saturday. Easy ball, first time ball, well weighted ball, precision pass and quick thinking all rolled into one, and the other who wants to attack down the flanks. Two attributes that this team has sorely been lacking and for which could turn this side into an even better one.

It could also be said, however, having seen Burke on saturday is that it could be that he may get TOO cocky but until we see him more reguarly we wont know if that will be the case or not.

As is normal with CK though is that when the other injured guys return these two will be flung back onto that bench. They both showed enough on saturday, even in that short time, that they deserve a starting spot soon if not in the very next match. Lessons were learnt about these two on saturday I feel and so with the cracking game, cracking result a move into the next round and a fairly decent crowd,it was a better day on saturday,in more ways than one, than we realise.

It is looking better with every game Dave.I still dont think we have seen the best yet as the team is still sorting itself out and still not quite gelled but the future certainly looks brighter on the pitch than has been for a while now. I think CK has done well in getting the results that we have been getting(only one defeat) whilst still trialling, so to speak and getting new players in. Just imagine what we could do once the squad becomes stable and knitted.

I'm delighted to see so many midfielders around as previously always felt that CK neglected this area.

I see Cookie thinks Burke and Osman deserve an extended run, but who do you drop.

I think we have to go with 'experience',and to me this makes our best midfield to be:

McGowan Gradley Deen Standen

( i prefer 4-4-2 and hence choice of 4).

Add to that you have:

Brown

Corbett(anyone seen him?)

Sacha

Osman

Burke

and arguably you can add Keister,Annon-if he signs and can play in midfield).

We certainly seem ok in this area

[color:"blue"]I don't know the signing status of Corbett, but I'd guess he was missing on Saturday to avoid being cup-tied. I'd imagine that he'll only sign to get to match fitness and show his potential to teams from higher divisions, so not being cup-tied would be a bonus for potential future clubs.

Am not disagreeing with MM. But I do think that whoever is in form should be out there, within reason, regardless sometimes of experience.

If((A)experienced, isnt in form then (B) inexperienced & who is in form should be making the starting lineup. Not in evey case I grant you but as a whole.

It is indeed good to know that we have at least CHOICES to hand & to be able to make.

I think the midfeild talent this season is far better then last season even with loseing clarke, we have got so many option's glad to see so many young players i hope we will keep them and CK can nurture them in to the players that will get us back to the conf and keep us there.

Would like to off seen bene back this season when he was playing were he liked he could be tremendous and would just float past defenders.
