Referees in this League…

yestedays ref...I don't normally like to have a go at them. she didn't have control of the game, she let lunge after lunge after lunge go in from both teams. she let skins get away without even a booking for what looked like a straight red, it was a one of those tackles that you dont want to see in a footy match. She missed the most blatant of handballs leading up to their 2nd goal, she was standing on top of it. And also I think i counted 3 11 v 11 brawls that took place before she did anything about it, a yellow for one of theirs followed swiftly by a red to the same player. Awful ref, that game should not have been played, not that i was complaining because I would have been a very unhappy man had they called it off after travelling all the way up there.

Dig, dig, dig is that all you can do? Your signature on the new forum is rather strange. You seem to suggest in some way that I am a bender (Gay for people that don't know).

Yet if I was I'd be proud of it and therefore wouldn't care, if I wasn't then I'd know it wasn't true and therefore wouldn't care.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and yet you can't even do that properly, although you use this tool quite a lot.

People come up to me at games and laugh with me about something I put on this forum. I've looked at a lot of your post's on here before I come along and I notice a little similarity. Could it be then that you are jealous of moi? Surely not.

So then you have a problem with me and yet you use poor attempts of sarcasm to take digs at me, before you have a go at me can I suggest you get your own house in order?

You know who I am and you have a problem with me, why not come and tell me at a game?

Ah yes, another person who wasn't there but still manages to comment on aspects of the game beyond his/her knowledge.

Foot was given a second yellow card for an attempted headbutt in a melee, for the record. Yes, Ms Rayner had a poor game (particularly regarding her failure to give Skins a second yellow for his dangerous challenge; something she incidentally also did when we played at Halifax last season), but her relative improvement in the second half and the treacherous conditions provide at least some mitigating circumstances.

Overall, as Harry says, her big problem was being too willing to book players early on without taking the slippery surface into account. This laid her open to inconsistency later on. But that doesn't make her a downright bad ref necessarily.

To be fair, I think the pitch was just about playable to begin with, but certainly wasn't by the second half. It's bizarre that once a game is underway, the criteria for a postponement/abandonment seem to change, as though a far worse standard of pitch suddenly becomes acceptable.

Yesterday's match was a bit of a lottery, and, since we never win at Scarborough, we should have known more things would have gone against us than not. Apart from the lack of strength in depth in certain areas of the squad, there's nothing much to concern us unduly coming out of yesterday's game.

well, it's a familiar story of teams complaining about refs. The one thing i have had a huge, and i mean huge problem is with the RANGE of incosistencey.

1. the handball - the match against southport. i thought the ref had an ok grasp of the game, it was fluent and had passion. but the ref had a 2 or 3 big decisions to make. 1 was handaball which was clearly handball, it went in completely the different direction after the hand contact and the ref saw but decided no prnalty, they went on to score (not his fault). a clear handball was later turned down in the 2nd half

now if slatts didnt score a winner then the result would not have been fair. yet his season against canvey we got a pen for our man handling, which was a nothing handball anyway. refs need more briefings, more training!!!

I didn't see the events mentioned so cannot comment about those but too many players and fans expect the referee to penalise all contact by hand with the ball.

Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct states that a free kick is given if a player -

handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area).

In my opinion most contact in a game is 'ball to hand' and not a deliberate action by the player in which case no free kick should be given.
