Ray Spence is the quickest thing on two legs but tempremental, has an attitude problem and very difficult to manage. Strolled onto the pitch today halfway through their warm up session not giving a damn that he was late.

Gets sent off on a regular basis and missed a lot of last season through suspension.

Ability wise would be a great asset but Eddie would pull his hair out trying to manage him.

Steve don't quote me on it but I think they got relegated last year into the Spartan League.

By the way have you spotted the newcomer to the fans forum? he goes by the name of Heavy Trucker.

I'll give you a few clues... quiet sort of lad, with a high pitched whistle that deafens anybody thats within 10 yards of him. I sussed him out and said he should have called himself BFT. lol

They finished 21st our of 22 teams in last seasons Southern League division one West (i think) and were relegated into the south Midlands premier league.

Thought the vocal support was much better today, especially when we went 2-1 and 3-1 up. One thing that does worry me is our defence. We need someone like Saulsbury alongside Ballard.

Let's not forget though that Ballard came with a similar (maybe not quite as bad) reputation although Eddie has the perfect temperament to deal with people like that. He'd certainly et a beter reaction out of players like that than, for example, Devonshire or Borg who would just make them even bigger thugs.

PS. Steve - if you don't like stuff about Miller, don't read it! Personally, I'd like to be kept informed about how he's doing as he's one of the most decent, genuine players ever to play for us in recent years and I was very sorry to see him go.

Excellent performance especially 2nd half, and much better vocal support, a lot of which I must put down to Foghorn who makes a big difference, although most of what he shouts is utter rubbish.

Carbon was my MOTM and his second goal as well as Harris' were excellent in different ways. Agree with Chris on Paget today, had a bit of a mare 1st half but won a great tackle right on half time which seemed to inspire him for the 2nd half.

Also agree about Spence, looks a decent player, and despite temperament problems, may be worth a look.

One last point which I know has been mentioned quite a lot already. When did Christian Metcalfe become such a quality midfield player. Even when at his best last season, he wasn't as good as he has been so far this. Some of his vision and touches today was superb. Almost like a new player, let's hope it continues.

UP THE REBELS!!!!!

Thought Josias was excellent today followed by Woody, Hodgey, Daley and Chopper.

Paget had a poor first half but seemed to grow in confidence as the game progressed.

I think Parky needs to practice catching the ball in the six yard box when there are players in front of him. Most of the time he stays on his line and when he does go for the ball he tends to punch it when it seems easier to catch it.

It's probably just a lack of confidence.

He is relatively small for a goalie and when challenged he tends to come off second best and has probably decided to punch rather than catch.

I have also noticed Parky punching the ball more often this season and to be honest as long as the ball is cleared I'm happy, but it does normally seem easier to catch the ball.

Despite this, he has already pulled off some great saves this season - keep it up Parky!

Do think we need a 2nd keeper though, Parky isnt indestructible as shown early in todays match when Spence kicked him in the head.

Did not think he saved that? Quality save if he did! Thought Parky did well today. Kicking a bit dodgy at times when trying to find a player up-front, and one strange punch when he should have caught, but other than that - as usualy very good.

Also nice to see Danny Steer's grandad in the stand today. Good to see he's still following the club despite Danny leaving.

i irony of the whole thing is, the 2 players that scored Josias Carbon and Michael Alexis both have Oxford connections, both former players at United, and both of their fathers have been involved with Oxford City. Kelvin Alexis and Jason Carbon.

Anyway. Best of luck for the season lads.

Please no more threads about Matt Miller not a Slough player anymore and he among others over the years did'nt cut as a 'REBEL' to be politely.

I liked matty and thought he was very unlucky as a STFC player and like to hear about how he and (The local rivals i like- Burnham- Are getting on)
