Why is Mario Noto not in the 1st team squad?

I find it amazing that Super Mario has not been involved with the first team this season.

He is one of the best players at the club without a doubt and is fit because he has been playing in the reserves for the last couple of games.

He is not in the squad for the Crawley fixture. What is going on? Row with Kingy or does he just not rate Mario?

Geoff king watched Noto last week he had a bad game for the reserves.

worst Ive seen him play.

Aparently he Is transfer listed with Mad dog (Its a crime, he has fight, centre MID?) so unlikley feature In first team.

Plus minton

(good player but the quietest captain Ive ever not heard)

does not get on with Mario and will not play with him.

(Supposedly)

Play as a team lads. You will all benefit.

Our problem is in the centre Mid position,

Never been the same since Tilly and Stimpson.

We need a strong ball winner and someone who can spray the ball around or run past a couple of players then lay it off to a striker.

Dropping Sedgmore (who has been indiferent) and putting JK in the middle (who has been linking well with Duffers on the right) not the right move I feel. JK plays far better out wide.

Give Mario a chance he does'nt stop running, can tackle, has that killer ball in him. (allthough will give it away now and then) and has a cracking shot.

Whats the harm bringing him on when either chippy minton or Sedgemore is having a bad game.

30 something on loads of money

just early 20s loads of potential.

Give him a chance

Look to the future

I agree, Mario deserves his chance. It was very encouraging to see that Bunce was started against Crawley, and I thought he was superb. By taking the calculated gamble on Mario this might work out to be just as effective.

Agree with the majority of your sentiments drunk Viking.

I'm not going to preach about Mario because, to be quite honest, I don't know if he is the sort of player to sort out central midfield - never seen enough of him to make a real judgement and somehow I don't think I ever will at this club. Certainly the very few times I have seen Mario and Mints play together it didn't seem to work that well.

I said last year that I didn't blame the defence entirely and some of it was down to our midfield being over run or by passed so easily. This year Duffers and JK have performed far better and Keeling/Clarke on the wings give us width for crosses to the big men. Credit to Crawleys defence on Saturday they generally snuffed out JK and Duffers. However, sitting on the ball in midfield (and TBH they didn't have much in the way of other players moving)causes us problems.

Who replaced Sedgemore in a central midfield role on Saturday? It left Mints with a lot of work to do and apart from the goal wasn't able to create anything of real worth.

Unfortunately I don't feel we will see Mario start and our central midfield will remain Minton and Sedgemore.

If you had the choice as fans - what sort of central midfield would you like to see? a skilful player with nice touch like Mints or a solid take no prisoners player such as Stimmo - just curious.......

at the moment Stimmo, but we aint got anyone in that mold, so give Mario a chance.

Mind you agree, i cant see it happening.

was told minton doesnt like Mario cos he looks at him and sees the player that he himself was 10 years ago, and feels his place is under threat.

dont know if this is true, but we all like the gossip, dont we.....

And Minton picks the team does he? As you say people gossip but there`s a difference between gossip and rubbish.

I`ve not seen Mario play for the reserves, but i would have thought he would have to play well for them before he`s considered for the first team.

I also heard that Minton doesn't like Mario, so, my confusion here is, does Mints have that sort of influence over Jeff & Glen. Shall we say, excuse me Guvnor, I dont like that player he looks too good to me, I dont want to play in the same team incase he overshadows me!!!!

If that is the case, then this team aint going anywhere except down!!

Mario looked good the other night against Burnham for the reserves. Scored a great free kick.

yeah ok. but like i said before, when i looked at the bench on saturday i couldnt see anyone who could offer an alternative attacking option. maybe the lad isnt part of the answer, and yeah it is a big jump from playing well in the reserves to playing well in the first team. but its glaringly obvious that we will concede at this level,so we need someone who likes to attack the goal. we need to score more from midfield.

and i'm not knocking Mints, the guy has contribted an immense amount to the clubs success. he still has much to give to the team.He will be a Canvey legend.

right i wont mention Mario again.....

Does Mario have a load of relatives with new computers?

It's getting a bit boring after every match!

Boring to you maybe but when the team is losing regularly, near the bottom of the table (& obviously in for a long hard season) and has a skillful player like Noto, bought last season by Jeff and now seemingly thought not good enough to even sit on the subs bench, I think the fans have a right to voice their opinions and ask why this is now the case.

Yep agreed, but it gets boring, when it is repeated so often, by the same persons. I am also entitled to my say.

Perhaps the management have good reasons.

Even if they dont, it's not up to the forum who is selected. So in my honest opinion it would be best to drop the subject for a few weeks leaving it up to the experts!

yep I do know the definition of an expert.

Yes Chaz, you are entitled to your opinion like we all who watch the club, post here etc.

The management make the decisions and whatever happens, we the fans continue to support the club, go to games etc.

Let's hope therefore that Jeff, Glen etc can get us to start winning a few games soon because then all speculation as to why Mario is not playing then becomes redundant if Canvey are actually winning games and leaving him out.

Well Charles, a lot of people who are having their own little cribs about Noto and other things are those that support Canvey home and away and by doing so, spend a good deal of their money. I think they are very entitled to have a crib. If they want to take it up after every time we are beaten, then fair do's, they have earnt that right!!

Stimmo's back heel for Greggors to score against Northampton proves it. He was a very skillful player. Great passer of a ball.

Stimson was a fantastic player for us, I will always remember the goal he scored against Heybridge away on the night of the September 11th attacks. Took it past a couple of players until he got to the edge of the box, looked up to see 8 others Swifts players in the box. Without a second thought he delicately chipped the ball over everyone and in the top left hand corner - the keeper was stunned!
