Mentioned on Star this morning that the trophy will be in Barclays and that the staff will be wearing their football shirts.... Grrrrr. Straight after, they go into the full results of Slough Jets over the weekened and no mention of us...

 

Sent in a report and the news story about Barclays staff wearing their Slough shirts, so we'll see if that gets ignored as well.

As they are the sole 'live' provider of the league sponsored by Barclays, I thought they might be interested.

Yesterday I listened to Star' sports report which said " all our local teams drew yesterday," then went on to list Reading, QPR and Wycombe results, No mention of the FA Cup victories of Slough, Windsor and Burnham, all the towns which they supoosedly cover. Humph..

That's pretty poor really.

 

There must be a way to get their attention - if we sent a load of e-mails to them asking about coverage, would that be a good idea or would they consider it threatening?

 

Along with all the ideas about advertising and marketing, the issue of media coverage (but particularly radio in this case) could/should be raised at a future Trust meeting, with the possible aim of creating a co-ordinated sub-committee, as has been suggested on this board.

I think the more people that email in requesting why they don't give out results for the lower league clubs in more detail can only raise their awareness. I've emailed them this morning about our result and the staff at Barclays wearing STFC shirts (they mentioned the trophy was there and the staff were wearing football shirts...)

on a more positive note,

i went into the barclays branch to express my thanks for their support of the club and spoke to the assistant manager, the manager isn't back until the 27th, but she said he would be more than interested in meeting a representative of us to discuss further promotion!

Just popped into Barclays with Dom and was pleased to see at least ten staff wearing the Slough shirts, along with various matchday programmes lying around for customers to read. Dom also got a few photos which can be put on the website if needed.

 

Also saw a poster on the door which read 'Stop Press, Wroxham vs Slough, FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round' (with date too), so hats off to them for doing that as well!

I know Roy got the posters sorted out (Good work Glen) and put up in Barclays. They also received a match day DVD (Now on sale - £10) for their sponsorship of the match.

Nathan and I must have just missed Matt and Dominic 'cos we were there taking our photos at about 4:15 <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bigshock.gif" alt="" />

 

Both the security guards looking after the trophy and the staff at Barclays were really nice and very helpful. Lots of Slough Town stuff all over the bank so some good publicity there.
