Steph mate, when the Iron Lady was sorting out the country so you could live the life of luxury you do now on board your yacht!!

I was too young to be miserable, far too young to preach to others about how to run a nation & far too sensible to bother wasting energy on being angry & claiming the country owed me a living.

I got off my [****!!****] & got on with it & most importantly ENJOYED myself.

In fact you could say, "I got on my bike"

Bet you supported Arthur Scargill as well!

I mean he was`really intrested in society & wasnt just looking after himself was he????

Nice mansion he had, wonder if he had a yacht???

I agree with you Jim, but I lived in Enfield & not a mining community up north, so maybe I was lucky to be where I was, that doesnt mean I was unsympathetic with those more unfortunate than myself in being able to find work.
I also have sympathy for lots of other causes too, but dont preach about them & claim going on protest marchs is the only way to be part of society!

sorry gaz - can't let that go mate.

the people who went on the marches were a real patch work of society. Accepted some people might have been as I accept that some will have been agitators. The great majority were just normal human beings, from all walks of life, who railed against the injustice of it all.

Some are the same today - just older.

I have never preached or believed that protest marches were the only way to be part of society . I keep my political views to myself generally. In fact I think you might be surprised at some of them. However, when someone comes on with the sort of clap trap mr egg came on with i could not let it go.

A ha but you missed Brighton as well as Erith & Belvedere & Newport county.

Jim, my comment was not directed at anything you had posted, truth be known I was being a little mischievious & just throwing Steph some bait, however my other posts were honest, thats a true description of how things were when I was 16, not everyones cup of tea, but hey thats life.

Fancy a trip down for the Town golf day if it happens?

Also Chelmsford City.

BTW, I have read through this thread and I agree with Gazza. Life is in your own hands and you have to make the most of it. Nobody is owed a living.

Now that's not very nice Mr. Merlin. I have you know I'm a very intelligent egg, even if I do say so myself. It's just so much easier to type phonetically wouldn't you agree?

Now would you care to debate the finer points of my argument. I guess not. As for my opinions on South Bank - I couldn't care one way or the other- non league clubs fold for a reason, usually because not enough people are interested. But I was alerted to Steph's sympathy for the People's March, and one should know better than to get Mr. Egg here started on politics.

I'm beginning to believe that you guys only see me as a putrescent, fetid egg <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
