29/08/02 Barr Joins the Fleet

Andy strengthened the squad again today by signing former QPR forward Hamid Barr. Barr has spent the opening matches of this season helping St Albans move to the top of the Ryman League after having been released by QPR as part of their reduction of their first team squad.

Hamid's registration reached the Conference minutes before the 3:00pm.

deadline today, and is available for the match against Southport tomorrow.

Anyone know what happened.

Quote from DAVE GNFC on 'MANAGER'S REPORT' thread:

A quick summary for those who haven't been paying attention.

We did sign Mr Barr, and then he went off to Carlisle on a trial, and as I understand it we then "tore up" the contract.

He didn't make it up north, so he came back and went on holiday.

When he came back Andy spoke to him again, and couldn't agree terms. Bye Bye Mr Barr.

I'd like to say it was a pleasure knowing you, but I try not to lie.

It was the tearing up of the original contract that we were not aware of!

So greedy mercenary wanted more money then?

..and the moral of the story is.........

Don't sign ex QPR players !!

Bring on Barnet..and Andy Sinton...

The exception to the rule would obviously be Ron Springett and Peter Springett !! ( sadly Peter is no longer with us ).

Regards,
